Ballycroy Women’s group says a big thank you to all those who attended the recent Culture Night in the community centre. The event was a great success showcasing the wealth of talent, culinary variety, and community spirit. The evening began with an enchanting performance by local sensation Delphine and Conan, whose repertoire ranged from traditional ballads to contemporary pop and captivated the audience from the very first note. John Masterson then brought the fiddle to life, encouraging lively audience participation. This was followed by memorable performances from Seamus, Gary and Maureen whose renditions delighted the crowd. The evening concluded with a vibrant showcase from Eileen Connor’s School of Dance where the skill and energy of the young dancers left a lasting impression on all present.
Guests also enjoyed a wonderful array of food reflecting both local traditions and international flavours from homemade Boxty and freshly baked scones to Middle Eastern Sushi and German treats. This diverse selection added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the night. Ballycroy Women’s Group thank each of the performers for their contributions as well as the community for its continued support and Culture Night in Ballycroy was not only an evening of entertainment but also a celebration of creativity, culture and shared pride.

Speaking in the Dáil recently on Sinn Féin’s motion on energy costs, Mayo Sinn Féin TD Rose Conway-Walsh said it’s beyond time we end the rip-off energy bills for struggling families and business already on their knees from the cost-of-living crisis.
Sinn Féin’s proposals to tackle the soaring energy costs include: the allocation of a €450 energy credit for struggling households; holding the energy companies to account over the extortionate rates charged to their Irish customers; taking action against unjust network charges; and reversing increases to carbon taxes.
Teachta Conway-Walsh said: “More energy price increases come at a time when Ireland is already paying the highest levels of energy prices in the Europe. The staggering cost of energy in this State is a direct result of political choices by this Government.” “Sinn Féin is asking the Government to take real action to support struggling households, and to end the rip-off, get prices under control and support struggling families.”
