News of the passing of Ben McTiernan, which occurred in Portugal last month was met with great sadness by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ben from Lisaniska, Knockmore, was beloved son of Dawn and Michael and brother of Katie, a special nephew and friend and will be missed so very much by all of them.
His remains reposed in Clarkes Funeral Home on Sunday evening last, February 21. His Requiem Mass was celebrated on the Monday and he was laid to rest afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery. During his Requiem Mass which was attended by former school friends, work colleagues, neighbours and friends, symbols from his short life and travels were brought to the altar which included a work badge from the Great National Hotel, an Australian Hat and others from his many interests in life.
At the age of eight he and his family moved from the UK and set up home in Lisaniska where he attended the local national and secondary schools. Ben loved to travel and amongst the countries he spent time were Australia, Vietnam and Portugal where he worked for the past few years. His passing has left great sadness in his home and in the lives of many. May he now rest in peace. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to his parents Michael and Dawn, his sister Katie, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
