Crossmolina

Town Hall  

Renovations on our Town Hall has commenced with Phase One. Many thanks for all your support. We look forward to creating a wonderful community space for everyone to enjoy in the years ahead.

Confirmation 2027

It has been confirmed that next year's Confirmation ceremony at St Tiernan’s Church will take place on Saturday, March 6, at 12 noon. Best of luck to all the children as they prepare for their Confirmation in the years ahead.

Back to school

Wishing all our pupils a very happy return to school! May the new school year be filled with friendship, learning, laughter and many happy memories. 

Remembering Canon George

Mass for the late Canon George McHale will be celebrated on Sunday, September 6, at 11.30am in St Tiernan’s Church. He was chaplain to Gortnor Abbey and resident in Kilmurry and had been in Crossmolina Parish from 1986 to 1993.

Peak of the Reek

Western Alzheimer's will hold its Peak of the Reek Community Climb on Saturday, September 12. 

Walk for a loved one or enjoy a community day out. All funds support hands-on care for local families living with Dementia in the West. Register at westernalzheimers.ie or contact 094-9364900 for further details.

Gortnor Abbey reunion

The Gortnor Abbey Leaving Cert Class of 1976 will hold a 50-year reunion in Ballina Manor Hotel on Saturday, October 17.

Crossmolina Chronicle

It is that time of the year again when we begin our campaign for submissions to this year's edition of The Chronicle for 2026 and what a year it has been! 

The committee is now accepting articles, poems, tributes, reports and photographs via its email address crossmolinachronicle@gmail.com or to any committee member. The closing date for submissions is October 1st, 2026.

Lotto 

There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto jackpot on Saturday night, August 22, when the numbers drawn were 13, 21, 28 and 31. 

Two tickets had three numbers - Padraic Syron Castlebar, and Liam and Regina Naughton, Kilmurrybeg, Castlehill - and they each won €75. 

The draw took place in Hiney’s Bar. 

This week’s jackpot is €7,950. Many thanks for your continued support

Ardagh

GAA Development 

Officers of Ardagh GAA club continue with their ongoing development plans. 

The club's recently constructed new gymnasium is now in full use for its players and is fitted with the most modern gym equipment. It is a very welcome addition to other club developments such as a stand come shelter for its supporters which has been erected in recent months. 

Last season the club installed an electric scoreboard. It’s envisaged that lighting will be installed in due course on the walkway for use during the winter months. When installed this facility could be utilised during the winter thus adding a further boost to the wellbeing of its users.

The club continues to fundraise for its ongoing development and any individual or business proprietor who would like to donate or sponsor the club in any guise may contact any club officer or committee member. The main source of income comes from its monthly lotto tickets which can be purchased online or through the club's website. Further information from any club official.

Social Services event 

Ardagh Social Services are hosting an event in Ardagh Community Centre on Wednesday, September 16. 

The morning commences at 11am with talks focusing on 'Staying Independent As We Age', with expert advice from an occupational therapist and physiotherapist. It will be followed by lunch and an afternoon of traditional music. 

Full particulars from Elaine at 086-4034968. The cost is €10 per person (subsidised) and booking is essential. All are welcome to attend.

Championship 

Ardagh travel to Achill this weekend to take on the local side in the Treanlaur Catering Mayo Junior Football Championship.

Ardagh have full points from their last two outings but Sean Carey and his management team will be looking for a good response from their charges as they face stiff opposition in this crucial encounter.

Collection 

The annual Pro-Life church gate collection will take place this weekend, September 5 and 6. All support will be greatly appreciated by the organisers.

Lotto

Walking Group 

Moygownagh walking group meets each Wednesday at 8pm.Please wear high-vis clothing. All members of the community are welcome to come along.

Carn National School reopens today (Tuesday, September 1). Best wishes to all the children as they return to school.

Mayo Mental Health 

Mayo Mental Health Association raised a total of €300 at the churchgate collected at weekend masses in Moygownagh. 

Thanks to everybody who contributed to the cause and to John and Billy for doing the collection.

Save the date for this years Tractor Run, which is on Sunday, September 27.

Activator Pole Walking 

LBK walking group continue to meet every Monday and Thursday mornings at 10am. 

The Monday walks follow local coastal routes of approximately 5-6km, offering a relaxed and enjoyable way to stay active while taking in the beauty of our local area. 

The Thursday wanderers are a little more adventurous, exploring routes along the Killala greenway, Kilcummin Head, Moygownagh and Ballycastle and scenic Glens, where they enjoy some of the most breathtaking views North Mayo has to offer.

Killala 

Community Centre Lotto 

There was no jackpot winner in the Community Centre Lotto on August 28 last when the numbers drawn were 5, 11, 18, 20.

€20 consolation prizes went to Julie O'Hara, Vincent McDonnell and Stephanie Fleming. The jackpot this week is €2550. Tickets are sold locally.

Bingo 

Bingo continues in Killala Community Centre every Wednesday night at 8.30pm. All welcome.

Parish Office
