Local Notes: North Mayo Junior 'A' champions Northern Gaels visit Lacken NS with McHale Cup.

After their recent victory over Knockmore in the North Mayo Junior ‘A’ championship final in Crossmolina recently, members of the Northern Gaels team brought the McHale Cup to the National Schools in both Kilfian and Lacken parishes. Children in Lacken NS had a very warm welcome and put the players on the spot with a range of excellent questions.

Married in Knockmore

Congratulations to Roisin McDonagh and Adrian Padden who were married in the Church of Christ the King, Knockmore on Friday, October 17 last. Maid of Honor was Tara McDonagh and bestman was Darren Howley. Flowergirls were Cara Naughton and Rhea Padden while pageboy was Riley Padden. Music was provided Katie Cassidy and Lily Rose Hennigan. The ceremony which was attended by a number of family, relatives and friends was performed by Fr Michael Reilly PP. The happy couple are wished every happiness and blessing for their future years together.

Baptisms

Welcomed into God's family at their recent Baptisms in the parish were Lorna Hennigan and Sadie Kilcullen. Congratulations to their proud parents and families.

November Rosary

Rosary will be recited in Ballinahaglish Cemetery on Sunday, November 2, and in Cloghans Cemetery on Sunday, November 9, both at 12noon. Rosary will be recited in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina, on Sunday, November 2, at 3pm with the blessing of graves afterwards.

Sincere Thank You

Recent deaths

Rambling House

Ranging in ages from six to ninety, covering a wide demographic from Moygownagh to the USA, a large gathering of people including a group of Ramblers from Moygownagh joined other like-minded folk in the Moy Hotel last Thursday night to participate in “Foxford Traditional Weekend”. Music was supplied by a diverse set of instruments, ranging from simple tin whistle, drums, accordion, guitar, to a more classical harp and hammered dulcimer, bound together with singing, set dancing, traditional Irish step-dancing, sean-nos dancing and recitation. A poignant moment was reached when a gentleman played Mise Eire on his harmonica in tribute to his beloved sister. Thank you to Aine and Billy for carpool. The next Ramblers will take place on Thursday, October 30 in the Learning Forum, Moygownagh at 7.30pm.

Mass in St. Cormac’s Church Moygownagh will revert back to 7pm on Saturday evenings from November 1 for the winter months.
