Ballintubber GAA lotto jackpot stood at €9,200 on Sunday night, March 9. The numbers drawn were 6, 15, 19 and 30. There was no Jackpot winner. Consolation prizes went to Sean Flatley, Anita Carroll, Dee and Eddie Scully, Kathlyn Hennelly, Mary O’Connor and Caolane Rian Horan.
The jackpot stood at €9,300 on last Sunday night, March 16.
Ballintubber CLG held a great presentation evening in Clogher complex last week. The team being honoured were the U15 Division 1 Champions and the U15 Development Team Champions. The special guest was Cillian O'Connor. Gracious thanks were extended to Cyril Burke, who sponsored new training tops for the lads.
Under the Community Centre Investment Fund announced last week by Minister Alan Dillon, Carnacon Community Development Association will receive €70,000 to fund new external doors, re-sheet the roof and install new alarm system at the complex. Minister Dillon has extended thanks to the volunteers who work hard to facilitate activities in local communities. Carnacon Development Association has extended their sincere gratitude for the valuable financial aid.

The death took place recently of Masie Murphy (nee Duffy), also known as Mary T), Ballinlassa, Belcarra, Castlebar, County Mayo and formerly of Crumlin, Ballyglunin, County Galway. In her 91st year Masie passed away on March 5, peacefully at her own home surrounded by her loving family. Maisie was a highly regarded teacher and she began her teaching career in Greenauns National School, Ross, and retired in 1999 as Principal in Belcarra NS. Many past pupils from her long career have fond memories of a great teacher who had a genuine understanding of children.
The family has acknowledged the care and kindness shown to Maisie by the staff and community of B Ward, Mayo University Hospital, St Johns Ward, Mayo University Hospital, and the Palliative Care Team.
Predeceased by her loving husband Joe (Martin), daughter Sheila Tolan, parents Tom and Celia, brother Gabriel, sons-in-law Wai Hon Ng and Michael Foy she is deeply regretted by her daughters Geraldine Foy (Westport), Anne (Belcarra), Paula (Castlebar), Angela Ng (Birmingham), Patricia Keena (Belcarra) and her son Kieran (Dubai), sons-in-law Martin Tolan and Kieran Keena, daughter-in-law Hilary Nallen-Murphy, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours to whom sincere condolences are tendered.
Her remains reposed at Belcarra Community Centre, Castlebar, on Saturday, March 8. The Funeral Mass for Masie was celebrated at St Anne’s Church; Belcarra on Sunday, March 9, at 2pm. Burial ceremonies took place in Elm Hall Cemetery Belcarra, Castlebar. May she rest eternally in the peace and happiness of heaven.

A native of Belcarra and a former President of University of Galway Students’ Union, Dean was elected to the position of North West Regional Organiser for the organisation. The North West Regional Organiser is the spokesperson for the members in the North West Region that includes Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway and Mayo. Dean has also been appointed as Director of Agriculture and Rural Affairs by the newly elected President of Young Fine Gael, Jamie Malone. He is wished great success in all his endeavours.

Minister Alan Dillon announced last week €1,262,106 for 21 community centres in Mayo under the 2024 Community Centre Investment Fund. Ballyheane Community Centre will receive €100,000 for an extension, which will greatly assist in maintaining the facility. Community centres play an essential role in bringing communities together and the local community council has extended gracious thanks.

The death has taken place of Sean Corcoran, Prizon, Balla, Co. Mayo. Sean passed away peacefully at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar and his passing is an occasion of great sorrow to his family and many friends who held him in the highest regard. Predeceased by his wife Mary, brothers Peter and Brendan, and sisters Anne and Rita, Sean is deeply regretted by his sister Carmel, sons Martin, John, and Terry, daughter-in-law Debbie, grandsons Dylan and Jamie, as well as nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends to whom sincere condolences are tendered.

The area finals of the Carra Community Games are fast approaching and will be announced in the coming weeks. There is great progress taking place for the Community Futures in Clogher. The stakeholder interviews have now been completed. The Household Survey will be distributed on Thursday, March 20, and collected on Monday 24. Every household is encouraged to engage with the survey in order to influence the future for Clogher and for the people of Clogher. There will be a Youth Night with an Independent Facilitator for young people aged between 12 and 18 years on April 14, so that young people can have their say also.
A new defibrillator has been installed at Clogher Community Hall in the past week. This is a great facility for the area and for all the service users at the hall and the school. This defibrillator was part funded by the fundraising table quiz which was held in the Drum Inn last November and is testament to the commitment of the committee and the people of Clogher to enhance the facilities that are available in the area.
