Peg Downey Alexander Remembered

Deepest sympathy is extended to the daughter's Margaret and Frances, sons Peter, Michael, John and Lawrence (Larry) on the recent passing of their beloved mother Peg Downey, Barrett St. Ballina at Mayo University Hospital. Her remains reposed at McGowans Funeral Home on Friday evening, August 8, where huge crowds gathered, many from Knockmore, to pay their final respects to a much loved member of the community.

Peg who was formerly from Knockmore was daughter of the late Ida and Larry Alexander and a member of a family of four. Peg attended Carragorru NS and many of her former classmates fondly recalled during the week many memories of her and her loyalty to the parish down the years.

Peg was pre-deceased by her husband PJ Downey, parents Ida and Larry Alexander, brothers Jack, Carl and Gus and is survived by her family of six, her 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was laid to rest in Leigue Cemetery on Saturday afternoon following service in the Methodist Church Hill, Ballina. May she now rest in peace.
