Registration is now open on Foireann for the 2025 season. Register before March 31. Any player not registered by March 31, will not be able to participate in 2025 training from that date as they will not be insured. The Achonry Pioneer Dinner Dance will be held in the Yeats County Hotel Curry on Friday, March 21, at 8pm, with music by the Duets. Tickets costing €35 are available from Yvonne in Moores Supermarket Swinford.
Swinford Book Club will meet in Swinford Library on Wednesday, March 26, at 3.30pm to discuss LaRose by Louise Erdrich.
A Pedal Pushers event hosted by Swinford Cruisers, Charity Cycle 4 Hospice will take place on Saturday, March 22, with 25km and 50km routes starting from Swinford Community Centre. Swinford Gardening Club will hold its first talk of the year on Spring in the garden on Tuesday, March 25, in the meeting room on Lower Main St., at 8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Non-members €5.
Killasser NS annual open evening for new enrolments will take place on April 7, at 5pm. Emma from ECM Dance will be holding a dance class and all are welcome. Drop in, meet the staff, pupils and school community and see the facilities.
Swinford Cycling Club is hosting an adult promotion cycling morning on March 29, at 10am at Julians, Midfield. The event will include a presentation on cycling, bike to work scheme, safety, bike fitting, maintenance and repairs. Club members will be available to provide advice on cycling activities and events and will endeavour to answer questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their bikes as there will be a 10km cycle after the presentation followed by light refreshments. The event is free, and Swinford Cycling Club hope that anyone with an interest in cycling will join them on the morning.
Congratulations to Aidan McLoughlin, Midfield, who won €410 in the Swinford GAA 50/50 draw. KCC 50/50. Congratulations to Clodagh Cronolly who won €575 in the February Killasser Community Centre 50/50 draw with Noel and Christine Barry and Declan Kavanagh winning a €20 spot prize each. The Killasser-Callow Community Futures Plan 2025 will be officially launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary TD on Sunday, March 23, at 1pm in Killasser Community Centre. The plan has been developed by the completion of Household Surveys and local interviews. Come along and see what's planned for the parish.
The numbers drawn in the Swinford Community Lotto draw held on March 10 were; 7, 16, 21 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. €70 vouchers were won by Anne Forkan, Lislackagh and Colin Duggan, Swinford; €35 was won by Esther Munnelly, Newpark and N Duffy, Dublin Road, Swinford. The jackpot is now €4,200.
Results of the game played in Swinford Golf Clubhouse on Thursday, March 6, were; card winners 1st and 2nd prize was shared by Helen Gallogly, Margaret Sweeney, Matt Duggan and Bernadette Ryder, 3rd prize was shared by Mary Higgins, Maureen Morley, Philip Irwin and Gerry Ronayne. Life after bereavement can feel very lonely. Trained facilitators conduct a weekly 'Bereavement Support Meeting' at the Family Centre, Knock Shrine, each Wednesday at 11am.
