Congratulations Confirmation Class

Congratulations to the pupils from Rehins, Garracloon and Cloghans NS who were confirmed in their faith in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, on Saturday, February 14, at 11am by Archbishop Francis Duffy. It was a very special occasion for the pupils, parents and families. Special thanks were extended to the parents, teachers, and all involved in having the pupils so well prepared for the their special occasion.

The sad passing of Kevin Finnerty

All were saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin Finnerty, Calladashin, Knockmore, which occurred at his residence on Monday, February 16, following a long illness. Kevin was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all of them. His remains were removed on Wednesday morning to Christ the King Church, Knockmore, for his 12 noon Requiem Mass. There the large congregation present heard Fr Michael Reilly pay many tributes to Kevin. He spoke of his great faith, his acceptance of his illness without complaint, he spoke of his welcome always for him on his monthly calls and despite his illness maintained his sense of humour. He spoke of the great care and love shown Kevin by his beloved wife Mary of 52 years and family during the past six years when Kevin was confined to his home. At the end of Mass family members recalled many special memories of growing up with their beloved dad. Kevin was laid to rest afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery.

Kevin was the youngest of a family of ten born in 1954 to parents John and Mary Finnerty (nee Ferguson). Kevin had a great love for machinery and the outdoor life. He took great pride in his work as head driver with the Bord of Works. He loved his animals and working in his garden. He had a great sense of fun and enjoyed a night out to meet up with friends and family. But to his family he was their best friend and loved each and everyone of them dearly. His passing will leave a void in their lives that never can be filled.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, infant son Gary, brothers Martin John and PJ, his sisters Veronica, Mary, Ann, Bridie and Phylis and he is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Margaret and Mary, sons Brian and John, his nine grandchildren, his brother Tom and sisters Martha and Theresa, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May he now rest in peace.
