Congrats to Swinford GAA Steering Committee and Executive Team on delivering the Club Strategic Plan (2025-2028) and launching it on Sunday, May 25. The overall 10-year plan is to be “Senior by 2034 or before” and this is more about building a senior club than winning senior titles – it is ultimately about becoming senior in everything the club does - club administration, facilities, finance and fundraising, football and coaching, senior in values, behaviour and standards, how each member conducts themselves both on and off the field. The Strategic Plan for Swinford GAA Club sets out clear, achievable goals, broken down into yearly actions for the next 3 years. This plan outlines the types of actions which must be undertaken to ensure continued growth in the club to remain vibrant for the next 3 years and beyond. These are exciting times for Swinford GAA Club and the club will need more volunteers and helpers to help us realise their goals. A special word of thanks to facilitators - Pat Naughton and Mary Prenty for their guidance along the way; to everyone involved - the stakeholders i.e. members, coaches, players, local sporting clubs, business owners and local community (55 in total) who participated in the workshop in March and provided ideas of what the club could do better; to everyone who completed the club survey with honesty and sincerity, you are the supporters who care and have a genuine love of the club; and finally a special word of thanks to the Steering committee for their long hours of planning and developing the plan, to Eamon Horkan for kicking off the Strategic Plan and Padraig Owens for ensuring it was completed on time.

The minor team came out on top by four points in the League Division 1 Shield Final, at the Centre of Excellence in Bekan. They came up against a very strong Balla team but went in four points up half-time, 1-05 to 0-04. Playing into the wind in the second half, the Shamrocks dominated possession, however, Balla continued to counter attack with success. Both teams hit the net twice during this period, but the four point lead was still intact by full-time, with Kilmovee running out winners on a scoreline of 3-07 to 2-06. Joint captains, Katelyn Regan and Heather Duncan, were presented with the shield by Mayo U16 manager, Francis Regan. Katelyn was also awarded Player of the Match, after a fine display in midfield.
