Ballyglass RNLI

The Ballyglass RNLI Inshore lifeboat was tasked recently at 18.37 to a motor boat having engine difficulties half a mile south of Ballyglass Pier. Conditions at sea were challenging. Once on scene the decision was taken to tow the vessel to the safe harbour of Ballyglass. The vessel was made safe on a mooring and the inshore lifeboat returned for recovery. The ILB was refuelled and made ready for service at 19.56.

Crew list was helm PJ Walker, navigator Patrick Coyne and crew Kyle Geraghty. Thanks to all crew and shore crew involved.

Jonathan remembered

There was a great turnout recently for the Jonathan Shevlin Memorial. Thanks has been extended to all the lads who played and to all who helped in anyway. Special thanks to the U10s and their coaches for the excellent display at half time and to the Shevlin and Togher families for the refreshments.

The total amount raised so far for the St Brendan’s College Nurture Room is €1700 which may increase throughout the weeks Tractor Driving Safety Skills Course.

The students from Saint Brendan’s College had the opportunity to take part in a Tractor Driving Safety Skills Course, with a strong focus on promoting safe practices among young people who may be working with tractors and agricultural machinery. The course, funded by Mayo North East, provided students with valuable practical knowledge and guidance on tractor safety, helping them to develop a greater awareness of the risks involved and the importance of responsible and safe operation. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to develop important skills that will help keep themselves and others safe when working around agricultural machinery.

Well done also to the Transition Year students from St. Brendan’s College, who recently attended the RSA Road Safety Roadshow in the Bekan Centre of Excellence. The event is a hands-on experience designed specifically for the next generation of drivers. The students were spoken to by people who experienced first-hand what can go wrong on the road. They also saw a simulation of how first responders deal with a road traffic collision.

The focus of the day was to highlight the critical importance of responsible decision making behind the wheel. The day was designed to empower young people to take control of their safety as drivers, but also as passengers.

Kiltane GAA thank St Brigid’s

All the ladies of Kiltane G4MO, extend a huge thank you to St Brigid’s for a fantastic day recently at their blitz. A fantastic cause that means so much and congratulations to Orla and Hayley for making their debut.

The club also thank their generous sponsors for their support on the day - Kiltane GAA Club, Erris Coast Hotel and the High Chaparral; to all the Kiltane G4MO ladies for their generous donations and spot prizes, your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.

Days like these are what it’s all about — football, friendship, community and a great cause. Thanks again to everyone involved.

Bangor Hibs Women’s Soccer Group

Bangor Hibs is looking to start up a women’s soccer group and would love to see if there is much interest. The idea is to get a group of women together, have a bit of fun, get some exercise, meet new people and enjoy playing soccer in a relaxed, friendly environment.

You don’t need to be a soccer star. Whether you’ve played before, haven’t kicked a ball in years, or have never played at all, everyone is welcome. It’s all about getting out, having the craic, keeping active and enjoying ourselves together. If you’d be interested in getting involved, let’s see if we can get a good group together. Call 085 7227920 for further details.

Thank you
