Mayo Roscommon Hospice Shop has thanked everyone who made their recent Coffee Morning such a great success.
Gratitude has been extended to those who did the scrumptious home baking for the event and to all who attended at their premises on Market Square, Ballina on the day for a cuppa and a chat.
Mayo Roscommon Hospice Shop, which opens from Monday to Saturday each week, has also thanked those who sent along their best wishes and support.
Local lad Michael Moloney will support Robert Grace at The Academy in Dublin on Thursday, October 26.
Michael’s support slot at the Dublin show will mark a further step in the career of this young Ballina musician, singer and songwriter, who also played at The Electric Picnic last month showcasing his summer 2023 single ‘90s’.
Meanwhile, Michael continues to work on new material and prepare for his Leaving Certificate exam in 2024.
With an impressive track record in both radio and television, including appearances on ‘Ireland AM’, ‘The Six O'Clock Show’ and ‘The Today Show’, he has garnered widespread recognition for his talents.
Michael’s music has received airplay on national radio stations such as RTÉ Radio 1, Today FM and Newstalk FM, including strong support from Jennifer Zamparelli at 2FM.
His songs have struck a chord with audiences across the nation, earning him a substantial and dedicated social media following.
The Academy is one of Dublin’s busiest live music venues and has played host to The Killers, Stereophonics and The Coronas in the past.
Michael will be there with headline act Robert Grace, one of the finest new singer-songwriters on the Irish scene.
Moyne College, Ballina has congratulated the members of the newly-elected Student Council for the 2023/2024 year, praising the dedication and commitment of the young people to their school community.

Halloween 2023 in Ballina will be a thrilling weekend like no other as The Haunted House on the Hill opens its doors.
Ardnaree Sarsfields GAA Club, in association with the Sean Duffy Community Centre and Pieta House, will host the Halloween Haunted House attraction at the Sean Duffy Community Centre, Ardnaree, Ballina.
Over the evenings of Friday, October 27, Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29, young and older adults can expect horrific scares and frightening fun once they enter the premises.
Visitors are warned that, once inside the attraction, they will be subjected to intense audio and lighting effects, low visibility, strobe lights, water and fog… and even more chilling encounters.
This event is supported by the Ballina 2023 Community Events Fund and proceeds are going to Ardnaree Sarsfields GAA Club and The Outreach Centre for Pieta House.

A special Halloween treat for children will take place at The Haunted House on the Hill on Sunday, October 29, between 4 and 6pm. This show will also include a sensory hour.

Ballina Dolphins Swimming Club has congratulated club member Jack Butler, who achieved an A time in the 100m backstroke in an event at the County Sligo Swimming Club.
Jack also secured a B time in the 100m Individual Medley at the Future Challenges Meet, the first of the new season, held in the Sligo Regional Sports Centre, Sligo Town.
A total of six swimmers from Ballina Dolphins Swimming Club took part.

Get into the spirit of Halloween later this month with Craoibhín Ballina’s Halloween Tea Dance in The Kennedy Glasgow Centre, The Quay, Ballina.
It takes place on Thursday, October 26, from 1 to 3pm.
There will be plenty of Halloween treats, including live music by Padraig Moran, along with refreshments and a raffle.

The death has taken place of Eleanor (Nell) Burke, 29 Morrison Terrace, Ballina and formerly of Granard, Crossmolina.
Nell is deeply regretted by her loving family: brothers Joe and Seamus, nephews, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
She was predeceased by her sisters Marie and Nancy, and by her brothers Edmond, Mick and Noel.
Nell reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina on Friday followed by removal to St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina.
Requiem Mass for Nell took place on Saturday with her funeral proceeding to Crossmolina Cemetery for burial.
Bonniconlon Foróige Club is planning to renew its activities for the upcoming year. The club, which meets in Bonniconlon Community Centre, recently held a registration session and more details about its plans for 2023/24 will be available soon.
Meanwhile, Cooneal Foroige Club is back in action every Friday night. The club is reminding members that the national organisation’s annual affiliation fee is €30 per young person, or €50 for two or more people from the same household. Cooneal Foróige also has a small fee of €3 in place each Friday night to cover club expenses.
The death has taken place of Matthew Farrell (Jr), Laughty, Ballina.
Matthew was the beloved son of Matt and Loretta and dear brother to Micheal and Ann.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, brother, sister, sister-in-law Jean, Ann’s partner John, niece Katie, nephews David and Eoin, aunt Mary McHugh Farrell, cousins, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Requiem Mass took place in the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone on Wednesday, followed by burial in Bonniconlon Cemetery.
A Craft Camp in the Sean Duffy Community Centre, Ardnaree is set to inspire the creativity of youngsters this Halloween.
The Craft Camp is organised by Ballina Costume Company and will take place for four days from Tuesday, October 31 to Friday, November 3, between 9.30am and 3pm each day.
Children must wear old clothes and bring along a packed lunch to cover two breaks.
The cost is €80 and bookings can be made by calling 096-72154. Children aged four to 12 years are eligible to attend.
Mayo Cancer Support provides free support services to those affected by cancer at Rock Rose House in Castlebar and, by appointment only, at the outreach centre in Ballina every Tuesday.

A great favourite with theatregoers from this side of the Ox Mountains is the well-known drama group Cloonacool Players.
The Sligo thespians will present two one-act plays in Cloonacool Community Centre on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, October 26, 27 and 29.
Lady Gregory's 'Spreading the News' will include Tom Towey, Mary Kathleen Johnston and Margaret McInytre on stage, while Martin McIntyre and Dennis Ross star in in Malachy McKenna's masterpiece 'The Quiet Land'.
'The Quiet Land' is Cloonacool Players’ All-Ireland One-Act Festival entry for 2023. The drama group will also bring this play to Ballina’s One-Act Drama Festival at Ballina Arts Centre on Sunday, November 5.
Pat McCarrick is the producer for ‘Spreading the News’ while Peadar Conway takes on production duties for ‘The Quiet Land’.
Both plays will start at 8pm in Cloonacool Community Centre.
The death has taken place of Teresa (Dolly) Lynch (née Harvey), Greenhills Estate, Ballina and formerly of London and Donegal.
Teresa was the beloved wife of Davy Lynch and loving mother to David, John, Bridget, Teresa, Rosemary and Bernadette. She will be sadly missed by her husband, sons, daughters, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Bridget, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Micheal Patrick, grandson Darius Jack Lynch and her brothers and sisters.

As the RHA West exhibition in Ballina Civic Offices enters its final days, artist Niamh O’Malley ARHA is set to deliver an intriguing presentation on her remarkable experience in Venice Biennale 2022.

The RHA West exhibition in Ballina Civic Offices – which is part of Ballina 2023 celebrations - ends this coming Friday, October 20. The exhibition features some 50 pieces, including works by many of Ireland’s most famous living artists. It opens from 10am to 1pm and again from 2 to 4pm each day until Friday.
Foxford Alzheimer’s Community Trust (FACT) and Mayo Rape Crisis Centre (MRCC) were the main beneficiaries of the very successful Ballina Lions Club Golf Classic, receiving €5,000 and €4,000 respectively.
The golf classic took place during the summer at Ballina Golf Club.
Accepting the cheque, the Director of Services at Mayo Rape Crisis Centre, Loretta Brosnan-McDonagh, said: “I would like to thank Ballina Lions Club for the donation. These funds will help us to develop MRCC services further in the Ballina area."
Declan Howley received the cheque on behalf of Foxford Alzheimer’s Community Trust.
“FACT services continue to expand and we now have a waiting list looking for Alzheimer's and other dementia support. The funds presented will go towards dealing with that ever-increasing demand,” he said.
Ballina Lions Club distributed the funds at their monthly meeting, where a further €3,000 was split evenly to go to Ballina Community Centre Meals on Wheels and St Joseph's Hospital Patient Comfort Fund, Ballina.
Ballina Lions Club has thanked their main sponsors – Connolly Motors, SuperValu and Ballina Credit Union – and all of the other sponsors and golfers that contributed to this very fruitful outcome for local charities.

Grainne Uaile Sub Aqua Club and Recovery Unit, Ballina was one of the beneficiaries of The Parish Quiz, held in Crossmolina earlier this month.
The Ballina-based club has thanked the organisers, the local businesses that sponsored prizes and the contestants for their support.

Ballina Library, Pearse Street will be the location for free blood pressure checks for the public next Tuesday, October 24, as part of a Mayo Libraries initiative in association with the Croí Third Age programme across the county.
This public health initiative aims to highlight issues around heart health and offers an opportunity to have your heart health questions answered.
The free service is being offered between 11am and 3pm.
Subsequent to the Free Blood Pressure Check Day, blood pressure monitors will be available to borrow from Ballina Library, also free of charge.
