Katie Keane is Queen of the Sporting World. Massive congratulations to Katie Keane as she wins Sports Genius 2024. Not only does she win €500 but due to a side bet with her husband, she doesn't have to do the washing up again until 2025. Get the Marigolds on Gary.
Good man Conan who is runner up for €150. Well done to Peggy who comes third for €50. Thank you to Platt Reilly and Belbridge Structures for their much valued sponsorship.
The F1 isn't finished but only four of you didn't have Max and it won't affect the money places. Well done to Cillían Reilly who picked Lewis for the F1, which meant his grandmother could overtake him to take third, a noble thing to do. Thank you to everyone who entered and they look forward to your participation in 2025.
Katie correctly predicted 10 of the 22 events. Yes chaps, a female winner, and two ladies in the top three, seven in the top twelve. Who runs the world?
Congratulations to DeBurca Clár number 9; you have won the €300 Erris Fuels voucher and a big thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser.
The Kilmore Drama group recently returned from Northampton in the UK and what a rollercoaster week it was. The group performed The Farmboy in The Deco Theatre in front of a fabulous crowd!
They cannot thank the amazing Teresa McCarthy Dixon and the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation enough. She is a real life Wonder Woman….she went above and beyond for them all without even asking. The group saw first-hand the wonderful work they do for the community in Northampton. Thanks to everyone who came to the show and that gave so generously to the collection on the night; to the crew for all the hard work bringing over the set and having everything all ready for us; to Lisa and Ann on makeup; Josephine Geraghty for producing the play; Keith McDonnell for directing and all the cast of course; to Ann Lavelle who wrote The Farmboy play and joined everyone in Northampton and the crew at The Deco, what a class venue.
Definitely a week that had lots of highs but the unfortunate news they received just before they went on stage of the death of Conor Ruddy.
This show and performance was most certainly dedicated to Conor, may his gentle soul rest in peace.
For over a decade, the St Stephen's Day Dip has been a ray of hope and generosity, bringing everyone together to support Cancer Care West. Now in its 12th year, this event continues to inspire dippers of all ages and abilities to brave the waters and to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. What began as a small gathering of friends and neighbours has become our beloved annual tradition, raising vital funds for Cancer Care West, a charity dedicated to providing support services for cancer patients and their families. Each year, we dive into Belmullet Tidal Pool, not just for the thrill, but to honour loved ones, show solidarity, and contribute to a cause close to so many hearts.
Whether you’re a first-time dipper or a seasoned participant, we invite you to join us on December 26, at Belmullet Tidal Pool and you'll leave with the warm glow of knowing you’ve made a difference. Together, let’s celebrate 12 years of making waves for Cancer Care West. Dive in, donate, or cheer from the side lines as every contribution counts!

The Derek Langan Memorial came to a close recently as Edmund Holmes retained the title that he won for the first time last year with a 5-1 win over Paul Neary in the final.
Edmund played flawless pool on the day as he stormed to victory coming through a very tough route with wins over Isabelle Langan, Zack Ruddy, Padraic Coyle and Adam McAndrew before meeting Paul in the final. The semi-finalists were David Gallagher and Adam McAndrew who both played some excellent pool over the weekend. The Langan family were there to present the cup to Ed and were delighted to see the progress that pool has made in the area in recent years and thanked each and every player for entering and making the weekend such a success. PJ Langan was watching the live stream at home and was a keen follower over the full weekend. It was nice to see the younger generation of the Langan family follow in Derek’s footsteps with some good performances. Isabelle, Leman, Connor and Noah all played their part in some exciting matches a special mention to Noah who took a frame from Kenny McGrath in Round Two. Thank you to Jarlath Keane and his staff in O'D's Bar Belmullet for their hospitality over the two days. Thanks to Gerard Coyle for his help in the days leading up to the event and thanks to all that helped in anyway over the two days. A big thank you to Ryan Gallagher Photography for the live stream and to Anthony Healy from Healy Amusements for having the tables/screens and much more before the event began.
