Balla GAA lotto

Balla GAA lotto draw was held on the Thursday, October 9, in The Shebeen for a jackpot of €6,300. 7, 15, 26 and 30 were the numbers drawn and there was no jackpot winner. The €30 consolation prize winners were Therese O'Malley (online), Martin Brennan (online) and Mary Jo Dempsey (cash sale). The latest draw was on Thursday last, October 16, in Flukies when the jackpot stood at €6,400. 

Manulla FC Notes

Manulla FC Club Lotto jackpot stood at €3,200 for last Sunday nights, October 19 draws. The club are deeply grateful for the support of patrons.

Hard luck to the Manulla FC U14 C boys who were defeated 3-1 by Westport United FC last week in the Mayo Schoolboys/Girls and Youths AFL U14 trophy final in Westport. Massive congratulations have been extended to Anna Burton for her recent signing with Mayo FC. Best wishes from all of us at Manulla FC. Matty Nolan, has set up a roofing business “Nolan roofing”. Balla Tidy Towns

There was great news for Balla Tidy Towns recently who have been invited to the National Tidy Towns Awards in Croke Park on Friday next, October 24. The group have expressed gratitude to Mayo County Council, their magnificent volunteers, Community Foundation Ireland, schools, residents' associations, as well as local community organisations and businesses who have all played a vital role in making Balla ‘a truly inspiring place’.

Balla Schools Football

Congrats to Balla Secondary School U14 girls football team who had a great win against Davitt College in the first round of the Connacht championship last week. There were some great performances with 30 girls getting game time. After securing victories over St. Tiernan's and St Attracta’s, Balla Boy’s junior team has advanced to the knockout stages of the Connacht B Championship. Best wishes are extended to all for success in all upcoming competitions.

Errew and Clogher

Marian is a Safety Ambassador

It is a proud appointment for Marian Deasy, Errew an she becomes the first Safety Ambassador for Electric Skyline Ltd as part of their upcoming ‘Live for Lorcan’ safety initiative on November 21, in McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris The announcement coincides with the beginning of CIF Construction Safety Week, a fitting time to focus on the importance of safety awareness and behavioural responsibility across the construction and electrical sectors. The initiative marks the remembrance of Marian and Michael’s son, Lorcan Deasy, who tragically lost his life in a workplace accident in 2018. The tragedy continues to inspire a renewed focus on the human side of safety and the importance of making the right choices in every given situation.

Marian stated she hopes that sharing her family’s experience will help others see safety in a more personal light. “When you lose someone you love to a workplace accident, your world changes forever. Errew community is very proud of Marian and this prestigious achievement. Marian is wholly deserving of this award for continuously working so hard to promote safely awareness and help save the lives of others. She is wished every success in the role.

More success for Errew Boys

Congratulations to four former Errew NS pupils and all their U15 Ballintubber GAA teammates for winning the Homeland U15 Division 1 League final played in Bekan on Sunday week. Well done to Seán Prendergast, Ciaran Earley, Devin Burke and Donnchadh Mannion. The final score was Ballintubber 4-07 Castlebar Mitchells 1-08.

Clogher Halloween Tractor Run

The annual Clogher Community Halloween Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, October 26. Registration takes place from 4pm at F12 EK24 with a start time of 5pm. There will also a children’s tractor run at the school and there will be prizes for the best decorated tractors. The whole community is invited to come out and support this fun and colourful community event. All proceeds will go towards the new pre school facilities. Entry fee is €20. For further details contact Alan on 087 9032809. The Tractor Run will be followed by the October draw for the Clogher 500 Club. Tickets are available on an ongoing basis from any member of the committee.

Clogher Cards

The card results for Friday, October 10, were 1st, Martin Moran and Tom Fitzpatrick, 2nd Derek Quinn and Tommy Fahey. The last 10 winners were Majella Corbett and Margaret Mannion. The game continues every Friday night at 9pm.

Refresher First Aid course

Thanks to Claire Thomas O’Malley who provided a very worthwhile and informative refresher First Aid course in Clogher Community Centre on Tuesday, October 14. Thanks to Bernie Kilboyle for organising and all who took part. Thanks also to the MSLETB Community Fund who sponsored this training.

Rosary in Drum Graveyard

November is the month of the Holy Souls and the rosary will be recited in Drum Graveyard on the Sunday, November 2, at 3pm to remember all the people who are interred there as well as members of local families who are buried outside of their native parishes.
