Another chapter in the history of Ardagh GAA Club was written last week with the commencement of the construction of a very modern gymnasium and meeting rooms. Months of planning have gone into the development project by the hard-working committee. This is the latest in a wide ranging list of development works carried out at the grounds in recent times including new pitch development, walkway, installation of an electronic scoreboard, pitch sanding, under seeded and verti drained both pitches, and enhanced winter training lights are just a number of the projects undertaken by the hard working committee in recent times. To help this very important and ongoing development work club officers have set up a Go Fund me page with all the proceeds going to the new gym facility at the club grounds. To donate, supporters can hit this link https://www.idonate.ie/crowdfunder/ArdaghGaa and all financial donations will be appreciated by the club officers.
The death took place last week of Michael Walsh, Greenaun, Knockanillaun. Affectionately known as Mickie Joe he was a well-known and very popular member of the local community and was an avid follower of Mayo GAA and Ardagh GAA club football. The late Mr Walsh was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis, only two weeks previously. Both Phyllis and Mickie Joe were hard working and great neighbours and both were held in very high esteem by everyone who came to know them. They are survived by their loving daughters Marcella, Emer, Deirdre and Niamh; sons Pat, Michael and Eamon, sister-in-law Mary Harrison, sons-in-law, Bernard, Max, Paul and David and daughters-in-law Siobhan, Mary and Claire and thirteen grandchildren, relatives and a wide circle of loving friends.
