Paddy Ó'hIarbháin, Eimear de Róiste and Fionn Ó'hIarbháin from Scoil Bhreandáin na hEachléíme who took part in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford and in the Oireachtas na Samhna in Killarney recently. Paddy came second in the U13 singing competition at the Oireachtas and Eimear came 2nd in the storytelling competition. Eimear came 1st in the U9 Irish language singing competition and Fionn came 2nd in the U12 sean nós singing competition at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

The club held its 2024 annual awards in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel on Friday, November 8, and like past years there was a great turn-out. The MC was Des O’Connor and congratulations to all the winners. The club thank all their sponsors and supporters and congratulations to all the winners.

Ballyglass RNLI

The Pete Lavelle Memorial Darts event was held recently. A fantastic evening of world class darts was enjoyed by many. Ballyglass RNLI thank the organisers, McGuire’s Valley Inn Bar, the Lavelle family and all who participated and helped to make this a great event. They are both honoured and privileged to be recipients along with Pullathomas Graveyard Committee of this fundraising event. It is a very thoughtful gesture to honour a family member that has passed by hosting an event in their memory. They thank the Lavelle family most sincerely for their generosity to their service. ‘Pete would be very proud to see a service like ours taken care of and especially by having a darts competition. Thank you one and all for making the event so great and long may it continue in this great venue’, said a spokesperson.

Cara Iorrais Craft Fair

The annual Cara Iorrais Christmas Craft Fair will take place on December 8, in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel at 12 noon until 4 pm. A great day to be had, lots of local crafts and gifts and lots of festive cheer. They are now taking bookings for tables, which cost €20 per table. Bangor Erris Christmas Fair

The countdown is on till the Bangor Erris Christmas Fair, which will take place on Sunday, December 8, in the Parish Hall at 12 noon. On the day you can expect a wide range of local goods and stands.

CLG Cill Chomáin Bord na nÓg presentation

The CLG Cill Chomáin Bord na nÓg presentation takes place on next Saturday, November 23, at 5pm in Healy's Hall, Glenamoy, with presentation of medals and Players of the Year from U6 to U14 boys and girls. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

Kiltane GAA Club news

There was no winner of this week’s Kiltane GAA Club weekly lotto jackpot of €15,300 with the two €50 winners being Mary Munnelly, Geesala and Elaine, Sharon and Collette Carey, Glencullen Lower while Bert Flannery, Muinginaune and Anna and Michael Doocey, Bangor both won €25. The two online winners were Elaine Merrigan, Craughwell €50 and Evelyn McGowan €25.

Bingo will continue in the complex Bangor this Tuesday, November 19, at 8pm with a €500 jackpot in 45 calls or less.

At the recent 40th anniversary game held at Carnenash Park funds was raised for the charity ‘As Dara Did’ where a total of €400 was collected. Thank you have been extended to everyone for supporting this cause.

The Glencastle Cemeteries committee will hold their annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 27, in the Castle Inn, Glencastle at 8pm. A full review of the year's activities will take place as well as a discussion of plans for the coming year. Come along and bring a friend. New people are very welcome and encouraged to take part.
