Ballinrobe GAA U15 Féile team, who won the Div 1 Féile final recently and are now heading into the Féile All Ireland final in Derry
Ballinrobe Musical Society will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, May 27, in Ballinrobe Parish Centre at 8pm. All are welcome to attend.
The society's production of Frozen: The Musical has been nominated for three awards in the Gilbert section at the upcoming AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Societies) Awards. Rhea May Murphy from The Neale was nominated for Outstanding Youth Performance for her portrayal of Young Anna, Ethan McNea (Olaf) was nominated for Best Comedian and Lorna Dennehy was nominated for Best Actress for Princess Anna. The award winners will be announced at the AIMS Awards weekend on Saturday, June 13.
"We are absolutely thrilled to see Rhea May, Ethan and Lorna nominated for their outstanding performances in Frozen: The Musical. We would also like to congratulate our friends in Castlebar Musical and Dramatic Society and Claremorris Musical Society for securing an unprecedented number of AIMS nominations for their 2026 shows," said a spokesperson for Ballinrobe Musical Society.
The Tuam and Killala Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes led by Archbishop Francis, will take place from August 28 to September 3, and will depart from Ireland West Airport Knock. Those interested in travelling on this pilgrimage are asked to contact 01 2410800.
Ballinrobe Town U18 boys team returned to training last week, with the new season fast approaching. The side will be managed by Ian Place. Players wishing to join the U18 team are asked to direct message the Ballinrobe Town AFC Facebook page or contact any committee member.
A gardening club organised by the Tacú Family Resource Centre, meets every Wednesday at 11am in the Community Garden, situated on the church grounds. If the weather is not favourable the weekly get-together takes place in the Parish Centre.
This club is open to everyone who has a love for gardening as well as budding gardeners. Participants can share planting ideas and projects, learns new skills and also be part of a great social outlet. Those taking part can also apply to grow their own vegetables, herbs, or flowers. No previous gardening experience is required, and support will be provided. This group is ideal for groups, individuals, families and beginners. A coffee morning to mark Traveller Pride Week will take place in the Tacú Family Resource Centre, on Tuesday, May 26, at 11.30am. This is an opportunity to chat, share stories, and culture. Traveller Pride Week is an annual national event in Ireland that celebrates the unique identity, heritage, and culture of the Traveller community. It recognises community achievements, and combats the prejudice and discrimination traveller’s face, whilst also encouraging younger generations to embrace their cultural background. This is the 17th year of Traveller Pride Week.
Ballyglass Heriatge Club is delighted to announce that their annual Heritage Day will take place in Ballyglass (Eircode F12K261) on Sunday, May 31, with proceedings getting underway at 12 noon. There will be vintage and classic cars on display, tractors, stationery engines and a motorcycle show. Other events include a threshing machine and wood turning display, a high nellie bike run, with more activities to be added close to the date. Also, there will be children’s entertainment which includes a bouncy castle. Arts and crafts are also welcome. The admission is €10 for adults. This event promises to be a great day out for all the family.

Islandeady.
Islandeady Community Council is celebrating 50 years this year (1976 – 2026) and it is planned to hold a number of local events within the community for the month of September. The special organising committee will be in contact with the various groups in the community regarding the 50th celebrations as it promises to be a memorable event.
There was no winner of the last Islandeady GAA lotto draw held on Sunday, May 17, in the Halfway. The jackpot was €12,550.
Islandeady GAA Cúl Camp is now open for registration and will take place from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31. Book/register at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.Underage training continues each Saturday morning from 9.30am. Children must be accompanied to and from training by a parent/guardian.
The Islandeady Walks continue on Monday evenings for 2026. The walk from Jack’s Cottage to the Three Bridges had to be cancelled due to inclinment weather on Monday, May 18, but this walk will be repeated again later. On Monday, May 25, the group walked the Annagh Loop .This was a very pleasant walk of approx 5.4km of flat terrain and suitable for all ages as the road is relatively safe. From the R309 (Old Westport Road) they took the Cloggernagh East road which now links with Annagh. All are welcome to join any Monday evening at the designated meeting point and enjoy. No committment or prior booking needed, just show up on Cycling Club.
Well done to the members of the Islandeady Cycling Club who recently participated in the fundraising charity cycle, from Dublin to Clifden in aid of Daisy Lodge in Cong. This is a really worthy cause and some of these cyclists have done this cycle yearly.
