Ballinrobe Town U18 boys team recorded a splendid 2-1 victory away to Conn Rangers in the Premier Division last week.

Ballinrobe Town AFC

The Ballinrobe Town U18 boys team recorded a splendid 2-1 victory away to Conn Rangers in the Premier Division, on Monday, September 1. The first half was keenly contested, with both defences producing diligent displays and the sides were scoreless at the half-time break.

The second half saw both sides create decent chances, with the Robesiders ending the stalemate on 60 minutes. A peach of a cross from Dylan Mallon found Luke Duddy and the latter guided home a fine finish to the back of the net.

However, Conn Rangers equalised from a penalty on 69 minutes and this set-up an intriguing finale to the joust. Ballinrobe upped the tempo and they were awarded a penalty on 85 minutes, but failed to find the target.

Undeterred, the team spirit of the Ballinrobe squad paid dividends in the end and the visitors netted what proved to be the winning goal on 87 minutes. Ballinrobe winger Edward Coyne delivered an inch-perfect ball into the path of substitute MK Ncube and the latter finished with aplomb.

Rangers desperately tried to salvage something from the game, but the Ballinrobe defence was superbly marshalled by Conor Flannery and Luke Duddy. This was Ballinrobe’s final league game of the season, and the three points garnered ensured a third-place finish for the red and white. Well done to all involved.

Ballinrobe Town: R Devereux, H Murtaza, C Flannery, P Mylotte, J McTigue, F McConville, D Mallon, K Burke, N Petrovic, J Cleary, L Duddy.
