Sad passing of John McDonagh

All were saddened to learn of the passing of John McDonagh, 4 Hillside Rise, Mount Falcon, Knockmore and formerly Gurteen, Co Sligo. John passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 18. His remains reposed at his residence on Monday evening before his removal to St Teresa's Church, Rathduff, on Tuesday morning for his 11am Requiem Mass. There he was remembered during the homily as a beloved husband, father and grandfather, a gentleman in every respect with a smile for all he met. He was laid to rest afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery.

During the past week many treasured memories were recalled of John by family and friends and by many who had the pleasure of knowing him during his time in London. There he was remembered as a one of life's special people who was ever pleasant to meet and ready to make time to talk, listen and help in a time of need.

He will be so sadly missed by his beloved wife Kay, his son Brian, his daughters Jennifer and Susan, his beloved grandchildren Aoife, Maria, Harlow, Amanda and Miranda, his brother Paddy, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, his many neighbours and friends. May he now rest in peace.

Ardagh.

GAA

Both Ardagh senior football teams got their Mayo GAA AbbVie senior football leagues off to winning starts over the past couple of weeks. Last week Ardagh recorded a comprehensive 5-22 to 2-23 away victory over Kilmaine while Ardagh B took full points from their home outing against Swinford on a 3-14 to 1-8 scoreline. It's a great fillip for the players and all associated with the game to see the leagues return across all divisions particularly after the very dreary and dark winter we have all experienced. The commitment shown by all the clubs across all divisions is nothing short of inspirational and motivating. Long may it continue.
