Knockmore

Hugh back in form

It was great to see Hugh Armstrong back in form as he finished runner-up iat the Irish Life Frank Duffy 10-Mile in Phoenix Park in Dublin recently.

Hugh, who is rebuilding fitness after injury, clocked an impressive 49 minutes and 45 seconds to come second behind the winner Pierre Murchan who won over the distance in 49:02. There were big crowds in the Phoenix Park to cheer on the participants in the sold-out race that brought thousands of runners to the capital.

Hugh, from Lisdovogue, Knockmore, is a member of Ballina AC. Well done Hugh.

Much appreciated

Thank you to Graham O'Hora for sponsoring the concrete posts for the boundary fence at the Parochial House, to Cooney's in Ballina for sponsoring the cement and to all who turned out on Monday evening to erect same. It was very much appreciated.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to the sons Rainer and Ingo Schumann on the recent passing of their beloved mother Edith Schumann, Lower Lisdovogue, Knockmore and formerly of Hamburg, Germany.

Edith, who passed away in the loving care of her family, came to Ireland in the 1990s together with her late husband and set up home in the Lisdovogue/Rinnmore area. They were much loved and highly thought of by their many friends and neighbours and will be sadly missed by all of them.

Edith was laid to rest in Cloghans Cemetery, Knockmore following her funeral service in Ballina Methodist Church.

May she now rest in peace.

Ardagh

The late Brendan Jacob

The death took place recently of Brendan Jacob, Knockanillaun, and formerly of Quigabar, Kilglass, County Sligo.
