Culture Night 2026 will take place on Friday, September 18, from 5-7pm in Crossmolina Civic Centre facilitated by Crossmolina Community Council CLG. Join for a celebration of local art and tradition featuring an art exhibition by Mairéad Molloy's adult class and local national school students, live traditional Irish music, dancing with the Deel Strawboys, and fresh local boxty. Admission free and all are welcome.

The death occurred recently in Derby, UK of Anne (Annie Kate) Granaghan nee McHale of Derby and formerly of Rathnaconeen. Anne was predeceased by her son Alan, parents William and Margaret McHale, brothers Martin, Paddy and Liam, sisters Maura, Evelyn, Bridie and Margaret. She is deeply regretted by her son Brendan, granddaughters Angela and Bonita, sister Kathleen Gordon, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Anne was very involved in activities at the Irish Centre in Derby from the time it opened in 1985 and in recent years was a daily listener to Mid West Radio. Funeral took place in Derby. May she rest in peace.
Congratulations to the Knockmore GAA U16 boys and their management team on winning the county title in McHale Park on Wednesday evening, September 2 last.

The late Eilleen Melvin, Stafford, UK and late of Creggane, Knockmore was fondly remembered at her Memorial Mass which was celebrated in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, on Saturday last. There family, relatives and many friends gathered to pay their final respects to a much loved sister, cousin and friend. Her funeral Mass was celebrated last month in Stafford but to fulfil her wishes her family organised her Months Mind Mass in her native parish with the burial of her ashes in Ballinahaglish Cemetery afterwards.
Eileen was born in 1947 to parents Mary and Tom Melvin and a member of a family of three girls. Like many of her friends she left for the UK to train as a nurse staying with her aunt Violet to start. Mary's caring and efficient manner saw her work her way to establishing her own nursing home where her care and concern for others will be ever remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Eileen never forgot her native home and travelled home on a regular basis to keep in touch with family, her passing now has left all of them deeply saddened at this time. Deepest sympathy is extended at this time to her beloved sisters Veronica and Mary, nephews, nieces, cousins and her many friends. May she now rest in peace.

Cèide Coast Half Marathon and 10k takes place on Saturday next, September 19, in Ballycastle. Participants will be taken by bus from Ballycastle Community Hall to the Cèide Fields Centre for the start of the race. The half marathon starts at 12 noon and refreshments will be served after the race in the community hall.
Congratulations to Ballycastle Junior B team and management who won the North Mayo Summer League final on Wednesday evening by defeating Moygownagh with a final score of Ballycastle 5-13; Moygownagh 2-13.
