Schools Quiz dates announced

The dates for the Credit Union Schools Quiz 2026 have been announced by Ballina Credit Union.

The first stage of the popular quiz for primary schools in the Ballina Credit Union area, which covers much of the North Mayo and West Sligo region, will take place on Friday, February 6.

Over the past 12 years, Ballina representatives have led the way in Connacht with the most successes at national level.

In April, the Under-13 team from The Quay National School, Ballina was placed first in the All-Ireland Credit Union Schools Quiz 2025 in the RDS, Dublin, completing a series of victories for the Ballina primary school in the contest over recent years.

The winning Under-13 team had come through the first stage of the quiz in Ballina Community Sports Centre where almost 200 primary school students - representing 26 schools from across North Mayo and West Sligo - had taken part. The previous year, the Under-11 team from the same Ballina primary school took the title of All-Ireland Credit Union Schools Quiz champions 2024.

The 2026 contest will return to Ballina Community Sports Centre and the deadline for entries from schools in the Ballina Credit Union common bond area is Friday, January 23.

There are two categories for school pupils: Under 11, for entrants aged 10 or younger on December 31, 2025 and Under 13, for entrants aged 12 or younger on December 31, 2025.

Further information is available from Ballina Credit Union on 096-71066 or by email at info@ballinacu.ie.

The second stage of the Credit Union Schools Quiz 2026 will take place at regional level on the weekend of March 6 to 8, with the final confirmed to take place on Sunday, April 19.
