Crossmolina 

Lotto

There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel Rovers GAA Club Lotto jackpot on Saturday night, June 7, when the numbers drawn were 8, 28, 33 and 35.

No punters matched three numbers and three tickets were drawn - Nigel and Stephanie Tolan, Knockleggan, Crossmolina; Anne Timoney, Fotish, Crossmolina; and Damien McGarrigle, Fotish, Crossmolina, who each win €50. 

The draw took place in the Thatch Bar. 

This week’s jackpot is €5,250. Many thanks for your continued support.

Votes of sympathy 

At the recent executive meeting of the Crossmolina Deel Rovers GAA Club, votes of sympathy were extended to the families of former players, committee members and friends on their recent bereavements. 

Pioneer Mass 

The annual Mid-Killala Pioneer Mass will be celebrated in Ardagh Church on Friday evening, June 27, at 7.30pm on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

All Pioneers and friends are welcome to attend.

Community clean-up

Help to make Crossmolina cleaner, greener, and more beautiful. 

The Tidy Towns is organising a clean-up and needs your help. Join them every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9pm as they work together to keep Crossmolina looking good. The meeting point is Centra car park for the following dates: 

Tuesday, June 17: Ballycastle Road; Tuesday, June 24: Riverbank.

Bring shovels, sweeping brushes, gloves, bags, and most importantly, a friend. Everyone welcome. The more, the merrier. 

Let’s make a positive impact on our town, one clean-up at a time. Please clean grass from your footpaths and homes.

Agricultural Show

The Crossmolina Agricultural Show takes place on Saturday, July 26. 

Rural Social Scheme 

There are places available on the Rural Social Scheme (RSS) in Crossmolina and surrounding areas. If you would like to be part of the team, please contact supervisor Bridie Tomas on 086-3362824.

Clothes collection

There will be a collection of unwanted clothing at Crossmolina National School on Saturday, June 21.

Bags of unwanted clothes can be left in/at the container between 12 noon and 4pm. Please use normal-sized bags and do not include pillows or duvets. Spread the word!!

Ardagh

Sports Day success 

Last week's annual sports day organised and hosted by Ardagh GAA Club proved an outstanding success. 

Held under blue skies and non-stop sunshine, the event was a rip-roaring success from beginning to end. Hundreds of children from the two parish national schools basked in the mid-June sunshine and participated in a wide range and expansive list of sporting events carefully selected and supervised by the organisers. 

Officers of Ardagh GAA Club extend their deep appreciation to the staff of Ardagh and Knockanillo national schools for their help on the day and the equipment provided, all the wonderful volunteers who assisted with on-field activities, catering and traffic management, thus ensuring that all participants had a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining and safe day out and, finally, all the children who made the event so enjoyable and memorable. Roll on next year!

Summer Camp 

Ardagh GAA Club will host its annual summer camp from July 7 to 10 inclusive. Three fun-filled days of GAA, soccer, rounders, tag rugby, dodgeball and numerous other fun activities. 

To secure your child's place, please phone James at 087-3215229. Camp coordinators are Jenny Kelly and James Carr. Lots of fun-loving and jam-packed activities to be enjoyed.

Outing

Ardagh Social Services is organising a trip to the Fr Peyton Centre in Attymass next Tuesday, June 24, for parishioners of Ardagh and the surrounding areas. 

The bus departs Ardagh Community Centre at 10.45am. Mass will be celebrated at 12.15pm, followed by a two-course lunch with tea/coffee. To round off the day, there will be music until 3.30/4pm. The bus will depart at 4pm and return to Ardagh Community Centre.

Cemetery Mass 

The annual Ardagh Cemetery Mass will take place next Sunday, June 22, at 3pm and all are very welcome to attend.

Moygownagh

Carn NS Tour 2025 

The first stop for pupils from Carn National School on their summer tour was Carrick-on-Shannon to Jump Street, where the children had an hour of fun on the trampolines. 

They next travelled to Lough Key Forest Park where the Junior Room did the Rockingham Remembered tour and had time in the adventure playground. The Senior Room took the challenge of the Boda Borg. 

To finish off the day, they stopped off in Funnybones. A great time was had by all.

Training for U12s in Ardagh Pitch on Mondays and Wednesday from 6 to 7pm.

Make sure to register on Foireann to be insured, and familiarise yourself with the carpark rules in the interest of safety for everyone.

Ardmoy Cúl Camp 

Ardmoy Cúl Camp will be held from Monday to Friday, July 14 to 18. Supervisor Anthony Gallagher can be contacted at 087-2431306.

The cost is €82.50 for the first child, €75 for the second child, €65 for the third and subsequent children. Each child will receive a Cúl Camp kit, which will be delivered before camp starts provided the booking is made at least 10 days prior to the start of the camp. The kit consists of a backpack, jersey and quarter zip top.

Knockmore

Fantastic response to Reek climb

There was a fantastic response to the Reek Climb held in aid of Knockmore Parochial House Restoration Fund. Large numbers of young and senior members of the community together with Fr Michael Reilly braved the climb.

Special thanks to all who participated and supported the climb, to all who donated towards the fundraiser, to all the ladies who supplied the lovely eats at the end of the climb and to those who carried refreshments on the climb. It was truly a community effort and was so much appreciated by the organisers.

Knockmore couple wed in Spain

Congratulations to Katie Munnelly, daughter of Catherine and John Munnelly, Tavanaghmore, Knockmore and Kieran Langan, son of Geraldine and Desmond Langan, Currabaggan, Knockmore, who were married in a beautiful ceremony in the Church of St Christina, Terona, Spain on Thursday, May 29.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer Clarke and Sarah Mulvihill. Groomsmen were Aidan Kilcoyne and Trevor Howley. The ceremony was performed by Fr Xavier and was attended by a large number of family, relatives and GAA friends. Music for the ceremony was provided by Noelle McHale.

Sun, sand and sea provided the venue for the reception afterwards where all celebrated into the night. Katie and Kieran are wished every happiness and many blessings for their future years together.

GAA Lotto

There was no winner of the jackpot of €12,600 in the Knockmore GAA Lotto draw last week when the numbers drawn were 9, 10, 15 and 29. 

Weekly winners were Mary Butler and Nigel Reape. Season ticket winners were Kathleen O'Hora and Michael McHale. The Lucky Dip winner was Marina Breslin.

Conn Rangers Lotto 

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Conn Rangers Lotto draw on June 2 last when the numbers drawn were 6, 17, 19 and 32. 

The weekly and season winners were Theresa O'Hora, Eddie Coleman, Oisin Breslin, Anita McVann, J. Corcoran and Jerome Hughes. The Lucky Dip winner was Michael Gawalkiewicz.

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Currabaggan National School online draw last week. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 12 and 17 and the €25.weekly winner was Monica McHale.

There will be a Mass of Thanksgiving for the life of Fr Desmond Smith SMA in St Teresa's Church, Rathduff on Friday next, June 20, at 7pm. All are welcome.

Automated external defibrillator (AED) training with Ann-Marie Mc-Donnell-Walsh will take place in the Fáilte Rooms. Ann-Marie is a registered nurse with HSE West and will train 12 volunteers in the operation of the AED.

Gardening Club 

Lacken Community Garden is a hive of activity this Summer. Please feel free to drop in anytime. 

The regular gardeners meet on Tuesday mornings at 11am and Thursday evenings at 7pm. New members welcome.

Walking Group

Walking guide Brian will meet the group on Monday, June 23, at 10am at The Enterprise Centre for activiator pole walking. 

Poles are provided and this is a free event organised by Lacken Community Care. The group welcomes walkers from neighbouring parishes and all levels of fitness are welcome. So come along and bring a friend!

Water safety lessons

Water safety lessons will commence at Lacken Pier on Saturday, July 5, and continue until Wednesday, July 9. Enquiries to Ann on 096-43180.

Mental health

Mayo Mental Health Association's information centre in Bohernasup, Ballina is open in the community. It provides options, support and guidance for individuals and their families experiencing mental health difficulties. 

The information centre provides a confidential signposting service and the drop-in service is open from Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 4pm. Please call 096-71492 for more details.

Community Centre Lotto 

There was no jackpot winner in the Killala Community Centre Lotto on June 11 last when the numbers drawn were 6, 16, 18 and 25.

The late John Gallagher

The death took place last week of John Gallagher, Bohernasup, Ballina and previously of Cortoon, Killala. His remains were removed from his home to Killala Parish Church for Requiem Mass with burial in Killala Cemetery afterwards.

May he rest in peace.  

The late Eileen Moran

The death took place of Eileen Moran, Kilroe, Killala last week in Mayo Hospice, Castlebar. Her remains were removed from the home of her daughter Maura to Killala Parish Church on Monday morning and were laid to rest in Killala Cemetery after Requiem Mass.

May she rest in peace.

Diamond jubilee

Congratulations to Fr Paddy Hoban from Ballycastle who celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of his ordination as a priest this month. We wish him many more years of good health.

Community Garden 

Cèide Coast Community Garden will be running a horticultural course in the garden at the rear of the Eco Campus on the following Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon: June 25, July 2, 9, and 16.

The course is being given by Caoimhin O'Cuinneagain, a horticulturist from Achill. A variety of subjects will be covered.

Funding

Well done to Cèide Coast Community CLG for their hard work and being awarded a grant of €50,000 for the refurbishment of an astroturf all-weather playing games area in Ballycastle.
