Double gold medal winner for badminton at the recent Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games, James Gough and his family express their sincere gratitude to everyone who came to Ardagh Community Centre to celebrate his magnificent success last week. Special words of gratitude to Ardagh Social Services committee who hosted the splendid event; Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Social Development, Dara Calleary TD, Senator Mark Duffy, all his friends at Ardagh GAA Club and parishioners. It was truly a wonderful occasion.
Ardagh Social Services thank everybody who assisted, baked, supported and donated to the recent coffee morning in aid of Foxford Alzheimer's Community Trust CLG. A cheque of €500 was presented to Declan Howley from FACT by Mary McAndrew and Lena Sly from Ardagh Social Services.
CDO Orla Boyce received well deserved plaudits from Ardagh GAA Club last week when she finished her term teaching GAA skills and rules to the pupils of Ardagh and Knockanillo National Schools. Orla had been working in both schools for the past number of months and also coached Ardmoy U-6 group on Tuesday evenings.
Well done to Ardagh senior team who finished up their Mayo senior football league division 4 campaign with a 1-20 to 0-16 win over Lahardane last week. The team and management now focus their preparations on the upcoming Mayo senior football championship which commences in early August.

Cèide Coast Community Garden Ballycastle are delighted to host their first Garden Festival - Feile na Garrai on Sunday, July 26, from 11am-4pm. Join them on the day to explore their Community Garden, meet the gardening volunteers, see first-hand the work being done to grow fresh produce, whilst supporting biodiversity in a meaningful space, bridging the divide between people of all ages in a healthy and happy environment. What you will see: the garden, local fresh produce, local crafts/food stalls, gardening inspiration and tips. The death occurred on Sunday, July 5, of Una Deane nèe McAndrew, Main Street, Ballycastle and Carrickanass. She was predeceased by her husband Noel and her sons Baby Noel and Sèan (John). Sympathy is extended to her sons Brian and Dave, daughters Sonya and Sarah, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers Kevin and Joe, daughter-in-law Cathy, sons-in-law Andy and Tony, sisters-in-law Breege and Grace, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
The death occurred in England of John Commons (Johnny) formerly of Glenedagh, Ballycastle. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his wife Ann and son Kevin. Sympathy is extended to his son John, daughter Mary Teresa, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister Margaret (Maggie Walsh, Glenedagh, Ballycastle), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The annual Pioneer Total Abstinence Association Pioneer Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Sunday, July 19, starting with rosary at 2pm, anointing of the sick at 2.30 and concelebrated Mass at 3pm. The rosary procession will take place to the shrine and blessing of religious objects will also take place.
There was no winner of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club lotto jackpot on Saturday, July 4, in Hineys Bar when the numbers drawn were 5, 20, 25 and 26. There was one punter who matched three numbers Noel Hegarty, St Patricks Ave, Crossmolina, and he won the €150 prize. The jackpot in the latest draw held on Saturday, July 11, was €6,900.
