Top Irish musicians to perform in Gurteen

Bríd Harper and Ryan Molloy will perform in the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen on Friday, June 21st.

Experience an unforgettable evening of traditional and contemporary Irish music with two of Ireland's most celebrated musicians, Bríd Harper and Ryan Molloy.

The fantastic concert takes place on Saturday, June 21st, in the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen, commencing at 8pm.

Bríd Harper is hailed as one of the leading Irish traditional fiddle players of the last 40 years. Growing up in the music-rich environment of East Donegal, she has won numerous prestigious titles, including the Senior All-Ireland titles, Fiddler of Dooney, and Oireachtas na Gaeilge. 

A graduate of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, Bríd has toured extensively and performed with renowned artists across the globe, including Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney, Sylvain Barou, Arty McGlynn and Nollaig Casey. 

Known for her exquisite solo fiddle performances and her role in the acclaimed SíFiddlers, she is also a highly respected teacher and composer, inspiring the next generation of musicians, including her accompanist… 

Ryan Molloy is a versatile pianist and composer whose work bridges contemporary music and traditional Irish music. With over 50 compositions to his name, his music has captivated audiences worldwide and earned him the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Composer of the Year in 2024. 

Ryan has collaborated with prestigious ensembles such as the Danish String Quartet and the Ulster Orchestra and has recorded on over 30 albums. His critically acclaimed solo recording pianophony and his recent works, including casúir ’s cnaipí and PIANOBOXING, showcase his innovative approach to traditional piano performance. 

As an Associate Professor of Composition at Maynooth University, Ryan continues to push the boundaries of Irish music.
