Talented duo perform at Coleman Music Centre

PJ Murrihy and Seamus Shannon will perform in the Coleman Centre, Gurteen on Saturday, November 8th.

PJ Murrihy and Seamus Shannon join forces for a very special concert at the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen on Saturday, November 8th.

From Mullagh in County Clare, PJ has penned many hits and songs that have been recorded by some of Ireland’s leading entertainers while also digging up old gems like Pat Murphy’s Meadow. As a youngster, PJ learned songs from family members, including his mother and two of his uncles. He started playing music professionally with Michael Sexton Senior, Jimmy Ward and David Culligan and then went on to create his own group that was very much in demand called The Bannerman.

Due to his growing popularity, he was asked to play and record two albums with the famous Kilfenora Céilí Band. In later years, he teamed up with accordionist, Seamus Shannon, and they have been performing their own specialised Irish traditional and country songs.

Seamus Shannon hails from Elphin, Roscommon and is a world renowned accordion player. Seamus is also host of a very popular radio programme called Shannon’s Corner on Shannonside Northern Sound Radio where he plays a mix of traditional, folk, country and Irish music with special guests joining on the airwaves. Shannon’s Corner is a long established show that has gone from strength to strength over the years and continues to draw listeners from near and far.

The concert takes place on Saturday, November 8th, at 8pm. As this was a sell-out show last time, early booking is advisable. Tickets (€20) are available from the centre at 071-9182599 or online at www.colemanirishmusic.com.
