Kiltimagh hosts peatland restoration workshop

A workshop on peatland restoration takes place in Kiltimagh later this month.
The Community Wetlands Forum will host a workshop on community-led peatland restoration in conjunction with Kiltimagh Amenity Park.
The event will take place on November 18 at 11am at Kiltimagh Museum and aims to highlight existing projects, showcase the benefits of community-led peatland restoration to communities, and provide an opportunity for individuals to get involved.
This free workshop will be a fantastic learning and networking opportunity for anyone interested in the preservation and restoration of peatlands. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a tour of Kiltimagh Amenity Park and witness the incredible community-led restoration efforts taking place there to create a haven for nature and people alike.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, including members of the Community Wetlands Forum.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand community-led restoration which combines conservation with the development of positive amenities for the whole community," says the Development Officer with the Community Wetlands Forum, Mícheál Callaghan.
“Peatlands are one of Ireland's most precious natural environments, and there is immense potential for restoration in Mayo, bringing numerous environmental and social benefits," notes Gary Smyth of Kiltimagh Amenity Park.
This workshop is open to the public.
