Gortnor Abbey goes ‘Back to the Future’

The students at Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Gortnor Abbey, Crossmolina, are once again staging their annual musical .
It is adapted from the legendary 1985 film by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale and starring Michael J Fox.
The show features original music, as well as songs featured in the film performed by the talented cast of Gortnor Abbey Transition Year students.
Gortnor Abbey has always been known for its musicals but this year the production is enhanced by bringing state-of-the-art technology to the stage to transport you 'Back to the Future'. Also making an appearance will be the iconic De Lorean car designed and made by Tony Harrison, a former woodwork teacher of Gortnor Abbey.
The show will be staged on next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 18th, 19th and 20th, in Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Gortnor Abbey.
Tickets can be bought in Carr’s Lord Edward St. Ballina, Hiney's Crossmolina and O'Donnell's Centra in Crossmolina. They are also available on the school app and at the door each night.
Produced by Sharon Fleming, the musical director is Fiona Watts, the choreography is by Taryn Kelly assisted by Marie Powell, and the set design and construction is by Catherine Newman, Vincent Gallagher, Terence Devers, Shane Maughan and Michael Murphy.
Costumes by Karen Mulhern, Olva Martin and Sharon Fleming, and props by Olva Martin. The musical team assistant is Maire Mahon.
