Two-time Moclair Cup winning captain David McHale has signed for Conn Rangers ahead of the 2024 Elvery Sports Super League season.

McHale, who captained Knockmore to Mayo SFC titles in 2020 and 2021, is one of five signingst that the North Mayo club announced this week.

McHale also has a distinguished soccer pedigree, a hugely talented underage player, a Connacht Gold Shield winner with Conn Rangers in 2011.

Mikey Lowther has also re-joined Conn ahead of the new season. Lowther was part of the celebrated U18 Conn Rangers side that won the Quigley Cup and Helen Johnson Trophy in 2017/18. He also won a Senior All-Ireland title with St Joseph’s Secondary School and will add read quality and depth to their midfield.

The club’s top scorer in 2019, Eoin Prendergast, also returns to Conn Rangers. Prendergast stepped away for a couple of years but will make a welcomed return for the 2024 season. Another member of the Quigley Cup and Schools’ All-Ireland winning side, he has represented Mayo and Connacht at U18 level and will bring a serious goal threat to the team.

The club’s Player of the Year in 2018, Luke Ruane returns to Mount Falcon for the 2024. Ruane spent the last few seasons with his home club Moy Villa. A consistent double-digit goalscorer, the club are excited to see what Ruane can bring to the side.

Shane Farrell has been out of the game for a few years but has shown very well over the winter and was one of the players that impressed on St Stephen’s Day. A strong addition for 2024, Farrell is equally effective at right-back or centre-midfield.
