Sunday Sport: Donegal prove too much for Kerry while Mayo beat Dublin

GAA

Donegal have joined Mayo at the top of the table.

They had too much for Kerry, coming out on top by 1-22 to 1-18 in a repeat of the 2025 All Ireland final.

The Kingdom were without David Clifford this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Mayo have made it two from two under new boss Andy Moran.

They picked up their second Division 1 win in a row with a 1-18 to 2-9 victory at home to Dublin today.

Darragh Beirne's goal helped them on their way at McHale Park.

That result was the Dubs' second loss since Ger Brennan took the reins.

Roscommon have beaten Monaghan by 3-16 to 1-16 to get their first win of the season.

In Division 2, Cork remain unbeaten after they eased to a 1-17 to 1-12 victory over Louth.

Meath needed a late burst of scores to see off Cavan by 2-17 to 1-18.

Meanwhile, Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney has said that he trusts his players to make the right decisions in the heat of battle.

His side suffered a one-point loss to Galway in Division 1 of the National Football League yesterday.

Critics have hit out at the Orchard County's preference for handpassing the ball over the bar instead of going for goal.

However, McGeeney has said that the players have to make their own minds up when the time comes.

There were also wins yesterday for Derry, Kildare, Down, Wexford and Carlow.

Hurling

It was a very busy day too in the Hurling League.

In Division 1A, All Ireland champions Tipperary eased to a 5-24 to 1-18 win over Offaly at O'Connor Park.

Waterford are on the board as they got past Limerick by 1-21 to 0-20 at Walsh Park.

In Division 1B, Clare have beaten Antrim by 2-30 to 1-19, while Wexford got the better of Down by 27 points to 25 in Ballycran.

Soccer

Aston Villa suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to 10-man Brentford, missing the chance to cut Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League.

Manchester City can take advantage of Villa's slip up.

They are in action away at Tottenham where it's City who lead 2-1 as a Marc Guehi own goal has the hosts back in touch.

Elsewhere, Manchester United made it three straight wins under Michael Carrick with a dramatic 3-2 victory at home to Fulham.

Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw.

Tennis

Carlos Alcaraz has completed a career Grand Slam, becoming the youngest man to do so after beating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final.

The 22-year-old recovered from losing the opening set to win 2–6, 6–2, 6–3, 7–5, claiming his first title in Melbourne and denying Djokovic a record 25th major.

It is Alcaraz’s fourth different Grand Slam triumph, which seals his place among the game’s greats.
