Newcastle manager Eddie Howe says his players must park the emotion of Champions League football when they return to Premier League action against Bournemouth.

They lost to Barcelona midweek as they made their return to Europe's top club competition.

There's a 2pm kick off at the Vitality Stadium, while at the same time Aston Villa make the long trip to Sunderland.

Scottish League Cup

Celtic bid to reach the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup this afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers’ defending champions make the trip to Firhill to face Partick Thistle.

Kick off there is at half past 3.

Motherwell, Rangers and Saint Mirren are already in the hat for the semi-final draw.

Women's Super League

Liverpool's match against Aston Villa in the Women's Super League has been postponed following the death of their former manager, Matt Beard.

There was a minute's silence in honour of Beard ahead of today's other matches in the top flight, with champions Chelsea playing Leicester and Brighton hosting West Ham.

Manchester United and Arsenal – who both have two wins from their first two matches – meet at Leigh Sports Village later.

Rowing

Three Irish crews have taken to the water on day one of the World Rowing Championships in Shanghai this morning.

The Men’s Pair of Nathan Timoney and Ross Corrigan finished 2nd in their heat and qualified for Tuesday’s semi final.

The Women’s Pair of Emily Hegarty and Aoife Casey ended up fourth in their heat which qualifies them for the C Final.

The Men’s Quad of Andrew Sheehan, Adam Murphy, Brian Colsh and Ronan Byrne are also heading for the C final after their fourth placed finish today.

Swimming

Roisin Ni Riain has won a bronze medal on the opening day of the World Para Swimming Championships.

The 2024 Paralympian finished third in the final of the S13 100 metre Butterfly in Singapore.

Earlier, Síomha Nic Brádaigh recorded a personal best as she finished sixth in the heats of the SM7 200 metre Individual Medley.

She failed to progress to the final but goes again in the heats of the 400 metre Freestyle event tomorrow.

Cricket

After Friday’s second match was abandoned due to rain, Ireland host England in the final game of their T-20 Cricket Series later.

England lead 1-0 and play is due to get underway at Malahide at 1.30pm.
