New Mayo football boss Andy Moran has convinced three players to return to his panel for the coming season.

The Championship's all-time leading scorer, Cillian O'Connor, is back after opting out in 2025, with James Carr rejoining the group following a year out with a knee injury.

Goalkeeper Rob Hennelly, who retired last December, is also back training with the Westerners.

O'Connor announced in 2024 he would be stepping away from the panel after 14 straight seasons with Mayo, but did not rule out returning to the Mayo set up.

Ardagh club man Carr stepped away from the panel due to knee injury issues, but will be returning for 2026.

Mayo welcomes the return of two forwards, following the announcement that Kobe McDonald will join St Kilda in the AFL next year.

After his impressive displays helped Crossmolina to the semi-finals of the Mayo senior championship, he will head down under after he completes the Leaving Cert next summer.

The 17-year-old son of county great Ciarán has signed as a Category B rookie.

Mayo’s 2026 National Football League Division 1 campaign commences with a trip to Galway on the weekend of January 24/25.
