Olympic joy for James is marked in style

Badminton: The Ardagh community recently came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of local badminton player James Gough following his success at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games.
James returned home with two gold medals after winning the singles and doubles competitions, a fantastic achievement that reflects his hard work and dedication. His success has been a source of great pride for his family, the Ardagh community, Crossmolina Badminton Club and the wider Mayo badminton community.
A special celebration was organised in Ardagh to recognise James's achievements, with members of the local community gathering to mark the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dermot O'Boyle with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers whose hard work helped make the celebration a great success. Among those in attendance were Senator Mark Duffy and Minister Dara Calleary, who joined the community in recognising James' outstanding achievement.

Mayo Badminton Association would also like to acknowledge James's club coach, Aileen Gough, along with Edward Gough, who travelled as coach and chaperone during the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games. Their dedication and support played an important role in James' success.
A sincere thank you is also extended to the local sponsors whose generous support helped make it possible for James to compete at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games.
