Two of Mayo’s brightest pool talents helped Ireland to success at last week’s European U23 Pool Championships in Malta.

Geesala’s Padraic Coyle and Westport Danny Feehan brought home gold, clinching victory over England in the final.

“It’s a proud day for Mayo Pool to have not one but two players on the team and to see the work that has gone in at underage pool over the last few years paying off like this is very rewarding,” said a spokesperson the Mayo Pool Association.

The Irish team topped their group and defeated Scotland in the semi-final before beating England, with both Padraic and Danny winning some very important frames at crucial times.

Danny and Padraic will be picking up a Western People Sports Star Award this Friday along with Killawalla’s Dermot Kelly and Adam McAndrew from Erris, after Mayo’s U23 All-Ireland title last May
