Local talent unites to support Ballina Arts Centre

A remarkable showcase of local talent will light up the stage on Saturday, October 3 when Ballina’s Star Extravaganza presents a vibrant celebration of music, song, dance and theatre in support of Ballina Arts Centre.
The Great National Hotel Ballina will play host to what promises to be a very special evening, with performers from across Ballina and the surrounding areas coming together on one stage to help raise funds for a cherished local cultural resource.
Beginning at 7.30pm, Ballina’s Star Extravaganza will showcase the remarkable depth and diversity of talent within the local community, with performances spanning choral music, traditional Irish music, Irish and contemporary dance, musical theatre and drama.
The response from the local performing community has been tremendous, with artists, schools, choirs, dance groups and theatre companies all generously giving their time and talent.
These performers will be supporting Ballina Arts Centre, a thriving venue which has provided a stage for so many of them over the years, and is a vital community hub at the heart of the town.
The star-studded line-up includes St Mary’s Secondary School Choir, under the direction of Regina Deacy; The Bailey Scariff Academy of Irish Dancing; The Moy Singers, under the direction of Shona Seck; Danceworld performers, led by Áine Egan; Rejoice Gospel Choir, under the direction of Jack Cronin; the talented cast of ‘Stay Gold’ from St Muredach’s College, Ballina; The Sylvan Kelly School of Irish Dancing; performers from the renowned Heroes for Hospice group; Maureen Lawlor of Centre Stage Vocal Academy; Ballina Lions Club Male Voice Choir, under the direction of Tara Doherty; David Lynn of Lynn Academy of Performing Arts; Aisling Mularkey and Iarla Dunford with Cuimsiú traditional musicians; an extract from Riverside Theatre Group Ballina’s sell-out production of ‘Lend Me a Tenor’; The Tara Kennedy School of Irish Dancing; and Ballina Dramatic Society and Friends, represented by members of their panto cast.
Ballina’s Star Extravaganza is intended not only as a fundraiser, but as a celebration of the creativity, talent and community spirit that exists throughout Ballina and the wider region.
With such a diverse line-up sharing the stage for one night only, audiences can expect a fabulous night of entertainment.
