Mayo League clubs will return to action for the first time in 2025 this Sunday as the second round of the Connacht Cup and Shield get underway.
All six Mayo clubs in action in the Cup have home advantage. Defending champions Castlebar Celtic will face Sligo’s Cartron United in a repeat of their last 16 clash last year, which Celtic won 2-0. Catron will be a dangerous opponent for the Hoops in Celtic Park, having stunned Salthill Devon in Round 1 on penalties.
Maree/Oranmore, who were beaten by Celtic in last year’s final, travel to Belleek Park to take on Ballina Town. Other ties include Conn Rangers facing Moore United, Manulla against Arrow Harps, Ballyheane taking on Dunmore Town and Westport United in action against Carbury.
Ten Mayo clubs will be in action in the Connacht Shield, which are: Partry Athletic v Glenhest Rovers, Salthill Devon ‘B’ v Iorras Aontaithe, Snugboro Utd v Corrib Celtic ‘B’, Coolaney Utd v Fahy Rovers ‘A’, Strand Celtic ‘B’ v Kilmore, Straide & Foxford Utd v Moyne Villa ‘B’, Dynamo Blues v Killala, Castlebar Celtic ‘B’ v Ballyvary Blue Bombers.
All but two games kick off at 2pm this Sunday, January 12. Partry v Glenhest and Celtic ‘B’ v Ballyvary BB kick-off at 11.30am.
