A number of triathlon clubs across County Mayo have joined forces to launch an exciting Duathlon Series for 2026, creating a strong early-season racing calendar for athletes across the county and beyond.

The Mayo Duathlon Series is a collaborative effort between the clubs of Westport, Castlebar, Trilakes (Knockma) and Liquid Motion (Ballina). The initiative highlights the strength and camaraderie within the triathlon community in Mayo, while providing competitive opportunities for both seasoned triathletes and newcomers to the sport.

The series got off to a fantastic start last week in Westport, where competitors travelled from across the county and further afield to take part in a great day of racing. The opening event set the tone for what promises to be a highly competitive and well-supported series.

Castlebar Triathlon Club will host its leg of the Mayo Duathlon Series on Sunday, March 22 at 10am in Castlebar Town Park (F23 H344).

The race will consist of a 5km run along the greenway, a 20km bike loop, and a final 2km run to the finish The course is designed to be both challenging and accessible, making it ideal for experienced athletes aiming to sharpen their race fitness as well as those looking to try duathlon for the first time.

Entry is available through the Triathlon Ireland website, and strong participation is expected from local triathlon clubs and the wider community.

With four clubs working together, the Mayo Duathlon Series promises to be a standout feature of the 2026 sporting calendar and a great showcase of the growing triathlon scene in the county.
