COMMUNITY NOTES: BALLINROBE - WESTERN PEOPLE (JULY 30 EDITION)
Last Tuesday afternoon at The Green in Ballinrobe, two Connacht rugby girls’ teams were in pre-season action, as both the province's U16 and U18 teams faced the touring Eagle Impact Rugby Academy (a United States American development team).
In the first game, the EIRA U16 girls’ team defeated Connacht 20-17 in what was a highly competitive fixture, with the touring American side displaying plenty of skill and determination to edge proceedings.
In the second fixture, Ballinrobe’s Faith Durkin lined out and captained the Connacht U18 girls ‘team against EIRA, and it proved to be a memorable day for Faith and her team-mates, as they recorded a marvellous 27-5 victory.
The Connacht U18 team is coached by former Ballinrobe junior player and coach, Craig Hansberry.
