Jessica Feeney appointed Mayo FC WU17 manager for next season

Jessica Feeney will be the manager of the Mayo FC WU17 team for next season.
Mayo FC have announced that Jessica Feeney will be the new WU17 manager for next season.
She will succeed James Johnson, who will progress into the newly-formed WU19 team as head coach.
Michael English, head of Mayo FC academy, said: “I’m delighted to appoint Jessica as our WU17 Head Coach for next season. She has shown great diligence and enthusiasm since joining this season’s WU17 coaching team, and with James Johnson progressing to the WU19 team, Jessica stepping up to the WU17 Head Coach role is a natural fit.
“Herself and James are very much aligned in their thought process and I have no doubt she will continue the great work done this season so far.” Jessica is looking forward to the season ahead, saying: “I am definitely looking forward to the opportunity to be the WU17’s head coach for 2025 . I am ready for the challenges and all that comes with it but I hope to prolong last season’s mentality, passion and resilience.
“We aim to create a very positive environment, fun culture and development for the players, so we have an exciting season ahead.” Chairman of Mayo FC, Joe Faughnan, has extended his best wishes to Jessica on her new role as the WU17 manager. “Having been a vital part of the WU17 backroom team under James Johnston this past year, Jessica gained invaluable experience that has prepared her well for this exciting new chapter.
“At just 22, she is one of the youngest head coaches in the league, marking a significant and inspiring achievement. Joe said he looks forward to collaborating closely with Jessica and wishes her and the team every success for the 2025 season.”
It is one of a number of managerial changes for Mayo FC ahead of next season. Joe Murray was appointed as the new MU14 head coach last month while a new manager will be required for the MU15 side after Raff Cretaro stepped down.
In a statement, Mayo FC thanked the former Sligo Rovers and Ballina Town player ‘for his dedication and hard work throughout the 2024 season'.
“As Raff steps away for next season everyone at Mayo FC would like to wish you all the best in your future endeavours,” the statement concluded.
