A pair of Mayo men have been named in the London senior panel for this season’s National Football League.
After three games in this month’s FBD Connacht Senior Football League, manager of the Exiles Michael Maher has settled on his squad which commences its Division 4 campaign this Sunday.
Charlestown native Conor O’Donoghue, a talented wing-forward, and Ciaran Gaughan from Bonniconlon, last season’s top scorer in the Mayo junior championship, are both selected among the 26 for today’s home clash against Tipperary at McGovern Park.
The news is of particular interest given that London host Mayo in April in this year’s Connacht SFC quarter-final.
Meanwhile, a pair of Belmullet footballers have recently transferred to top London club St Kiernan’s. The moves of Fionan Ryan and Daithi Cosgrove were approved by the GAA in December. Their Belmullet clubmate Colin Barrett has transferred to St Kevin’s GAA in Australia.
