A rush for tickets is expected to commence this week for Mayo’s championship opener in London with the venue in Ruislip set for a limited capacity.

Mayo GAA secretary Ronan Kirrane told delegates at last Wednesday’s County Board meeting that the capacity at McGovern Park is likely to be limited to 3,500 people.

Of those, 1,500 tickets will go to London leaving just 2,000 tickets for Mayo fans.

Every club in Mayo will receive six tickets to distribute as they see fit among their members. This was, Kirrane said, an increase from Mayo’s last trip to Ruislip in 2016 when each club received just three tickets. The 2021 fixture did not go ahead due to Covid-19. The 2016 game had a stated attendance of 3,000.

Kirrane said the Connacht Council are due to release tickets online this week.
