Aidan O'Shea, Darragh Beirne and Cian McHale found the net, while recent returnee goalkeeper Rob Hennelly impressed between the sticks.
Hennelly made a number of impressive saves throughout the encounter, while he also contributed crucial two-point scores from placed balls.
Mayo supporters took to social media to praise the shot-stopper, with one user saying: "Forget the two-point frees, Hennelly's multiple saves secured Mayo that win in Salthill - rightfully awarded motm by TG4 also!"

Another fan added: "Hennelly was the difference between us winning or losing today. 6 pts from his boot and three 1-on-1s saved."
