Swinford came through a barnstormer at a windswept James Stephens Park on Saturday to win the Mayo U21 C title over a valiant Erris St Pats.
The Kiltane/Ballycroy amalgamation were 1-4 to 1-1 ahead at half-time, an early goal by Swinford's Luke McNicholas countered by Josh Carey of Erris.
Swinford regained the lead in the second half as Jack Murphy scored a second goal for the eats Mayo men, but they also lost captain Alan Howie to a sinbin with ten minutes remaining in the second half and Erris brought the game to extra-time through points by Carey, Hugh Armstrong and John Ginty.
Both sides lost a man in extra time as both Ginty and Charlie Ginnelly received their marching ordered but Swinford regrouped and scores from Euan McDonnell, Darragh Henry and Thomas Tuffy ensured a memorable win.
