Parke’s scoring power is too much for ‘Robe to handle

Jack McLoughlin of Parke-Keelogues-Crimlin scored a goal, a two pointer and one single, all from play, in his side's senior league victory over Ballinrobe.
An understrength Ballinrobe suffered a heavy defeat away to Parke-Keelogues-Crimlin on Saturday. The Parke forward division posed endless problems for the Ballinrobe defence and with plenty of support runners, the locals were well capable of finding space in their devastating and well-orchestrated attacking forays.
The opening score was a marvellous two-pointer courtesy of Jack McLoughlin. Ballinrobe replied quickly as Rory Gilrane guided over a free, but the next score was a goal for the hosts on seven minutes. Cian Lynch spotted the timely run of Simon Cloherty and the raiding midfielder finished with panache.
Parke, as mentioned, had plenty of support runners willing to chip in and this was epitomised when Aaron McHale belied his full-back berth to make a sally into enemy territory before slotting over an exquisite two-pointer.
Ballinrobe regrouped and Eoin Hughes’ troops notched two points on the spin from the lively Ewan Duffy on 12 and 15 minutes respectively, the first a free.
However, just when it appeared that Ballinrobe were on the coattails of their opponents, a smashing two-point free from Sean Sweeney garnered a six point cushion for the Black and Amber, 1-6 to 0-3.
Both sets of supporters were treated to some fine scores over the course of the game, with Ewan Duffy also notching a two-pointer free for Ballinrobe on 20 minutes.
Following a point from Parke’s Sean Corcoran, Ballinrobe’s busy centre-back Conor Jennings also displayed his scoring prowess when he guided over an excellent two-pointer, much to the delight of the away supporters.
Parke’s dynamic duo of Evan Walsh and Jack McLoughlin guided over two quickfire points, before Ewan Duffy coolly guided over a marvellous two pointer free on 26 minutes, thus reducing the arrears to just three points. But Parke finished the half in a flurry and a free from their ace sniper Corcoran and a fine score by Sweeney, were significantly boosted by a three-pointer on 30 minutes as McLoughlin palmed home a close-range finish.
Trailing 2-11 to 0-9 at the break, Ballinrobe made a positive start to the new period when Conor Jennings guided over a white-flagged effort from an acute angle. However, on 33 minutes, Parke were awarded a penalty after John Cloherty was fouled inside the area, and Corcoran was coolness personified from the spot-kick.
Ballinrobe faced an uphill climb and struggled, as Parke’s dynamic centre-forward Evan Walsh pointed before teammate Corcoran guided over two frees, one of which was awarded for Ballinrobe failing to keep three men inside the Parke half.
The hosts continued to create scoring chances and only a fine save by Luke Jennings denied John Cloherty a goal on 42 minutes, after the latter was brilliantly set-up by Simon Cloherty.
Ballinrobe’s Conor Jennings and Parke’s Walsh, a free, traded scores, with Gillan Jennings also trading a white-flagged effort with the aforementioned Walsh.
Ballinrobe’s Oran O’Malley, who produced a hardworking display, managed to pop over a tidy effort, before Parke’s Jack Doocey also notched his only score of the joust.
Conor Jennings continued to pose a threat with his point scoring capabilities, and the Ballinrobe centre-back was on the end of some patient build-up play on 52 minutes, to land a superb two-pointer. However, Parke galvanised the victory courtesy of late points from Corcoran (two frees), Sweeney, and Walsh, with Ballinrobe sub Ben Donnelly scoring the final point of the contest on 60 minutes.
As the game petered out to its conclusion, both Ballinrobe’s Evan O’Brien and Parke’s Simon Cloherty were shown red cards by referee Kieran Barnacle.
