The Mayo County Board have officially ratified Andy Moran as the new manager of the Mayo senior football team at tonight’s county board meeting on a three-year term.
The County Board executive proposed the Ballaghaderreen native to replace Kevin McStay, with former Mayo teammate Colm Boyle and former Derry manager Paddy Tally as coach/selector and head coach respectively.
Secretary Ronan Kirrane proposed Moran on behalf of the executive and said the 41-year-old’s “passion, enthusiasm and knowledge will be the cornerstone of Mayo football for years.” The proposal was seconded by John Kilgallon, the representative from Moran’s home club.
“I want to congratulate the county board on making this appointment in good time for the Club Championship,” said Kilgallon.
“Andy always gave 100% for Mayo and I expect to see the same in his role as manager. I want to wish him and his team every success.”
