Mayo to compete in inaugural All-Ireland Ladies U20 Championship

Mayo will be one of eleven counties to compete in the inaugural All-Ireland U20 Ladies Football Championship later this year.

Galway, Dublin, Meath and Cork have committed along with six counties from Ulster to play in the competition.

Each team will play two home and two away matches, with the top team emerging to play the Ulster champions in the All-Ireland Final on Saturday June 27.

The Ulster Championship will be contested by Cavan, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Monaghan and Tyrone, with the five counties compete in their own round-robin.

Round 1 will be played on Saturday, May 2, with Round 2 a week later (May 9). Following a two-week break, Rounds 3, 4 and 5 will be played over three straight weekends from Saturday May 23, to Saturday, June 6.

The winner from Ulster will play the round-robin winner in the final on Saturday, June 27.

Meanwhile, the draws have been made for the group stages of the 2026 TG4 All-Ireland Championships.

The Senior and Intermediate groupings will be populated as the provincial championships progress.

Two teams will progress from each of the Senior and Intermediate groups to determine the quarter-finalists. Mayo, along with Galway, will compete in the Senior Championship following the Connacht Championship final.

Home advantage for the quarter-finals will be granted to the teams that finish on top of their respective groups, with a draw to take place following the conclusion of the group stages in the Senior and Intermediate Championships.

Two teams from each Junior group will progress to determine the semi-finalists. The top placed team from Group A will play the second placed team from Group B in the semi-finals, with the second placed team from Group A facing the top placed team from Group B.

Should Mayo defeat Galway in the Connacht final, they will be placed in a group with the Ulster runners-up and the Leinster third-placed team. If Mayo are beaten by the Tribeswomen in the provincial final, they will instead be placed in a group with the Leinster champions and the third-placed team from Ulster.

The All-Ireland series begins on the weekend of June 6/7.
