SENIOR

Group 2

Castlebar Mitchels 1-17 Ballina Stephenites 1-10

The big story of the championship so far. Reigning champions Ballina Stephenites, champions the last three years, have been eliminated after an excellent display by Castlebar Mitchels.

Ballina started well with an early goal by David Tighe, but Mitchels led by two at the break.

It was nip and tuck early in the second half but a big two-pointer from Bob Tuohy swung the momentum in favour of Mitchels and Neil Douglas scored 1-1 off the bench late on to send Mitchels into the quarter-finals, and Ballina out of the championship.

Garrymore 1-12 Balla 0-10

Eoin McGreal’s early goal gave Garrymore the platform and three two-pointers on the spin through Gary Golden, Trevor Nally and Andy Glennon in the second half propelled the hosts to a quarter-final spot and Balla to another early exit.

Group 3

Aghamore 1-14 Crossmolina Deel Rovers 0-17

A thriller unfolded in the east this evening. Even without Fergal Boland, Aghamore had plenty of firepower in Liam Lavin, goalscorer Derry Óg Cox and Brendan Harrison and led at the break. But Crossmolina, spearheaded by James Maheady, produced a great fightback to earn a share of the spoils.

INTERMEDIATE

Group 2

The Neale 0-12 Ballinrobe 0-19

Ballinrobe’s Cian O’Connell kicked 0-8 as he got his sides championship back on track with a comfortable win over neighbours Neale, who saw their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals end in disappointing fashion.

Group 3

Moy Davitts 0-19 Davitts 1-10

Not even a second half goal from Davitts could turn the tide in their favour as Moy Davitts, who led by six points at the break, kept their opponents at arms reach to book their place in the intermediate quarter-finals.
