Mayo schools takes centre stage for Cumann na mBunscol finals

Hastings Insurance MacHale Park has been a hive of activity this week as the brightest talents from schools across Mayo battle it out in the Cumann na mBunscol Finals.
The Division 1B finals took centre stage yesterday (Thursday) afternoon and there were comprehensive wins for St Peter’s NS Snugboro NS and Breaffy NS (Ballina).
Snugboro beat Claremorris NS 6-9 to 1-2 in the girls final, while Breaffy defeated Claremorris BNS 7-15 to 1-6 in a clinical attacking display in the boys final.
A big crowd was on hand for the Division 1A finals earlier this afternoon with Ballinrobe NS in action in both the boys and girls finals. Both sides played tremendously but with mixed results. A brilliant comeback by the girls was denied late on by Breaffy NS, who won their fourth county title in a row 3-5 to 1-9, while the boys held off a late rally by The Quay NS (Ballina) to win the boys final2-15 to 2-13.
