Mayo pair take Croke Park by storm

There were tremendous Mayo celebrations in Croke Park on Sunday.

There were tremendous celebrations in Croke Park on Sunday as a pair of Mayo handballers won the prestigious All-Ireland Senior Doubles Hardball title.

Claremorris duo Niall Joyce and Paddy Murphy were convincing winners over the Cork pairing of Daniel Relihan and Michael Hedigan who they beat in straight games, 21-13, 21-6.

It’s the first time since 2013 that a Mayo doubles pairing has won the All-Ireland crown.

There was almost a glorious doubles double for the county with Bofield’s Lorcan Conlon and Shane Heraty from Aughagower also teaming up in the All-Ireland Junior Hardball Doubles final. The Mayo duo were unfortunate to lose narrowly to their Galway opponents.
