Mayo make big selection calls for clash with Dubs

The Green and Red will return to Dr Hyde Park with Tommy Conroy recalled to the attack for the All-Ireland SFC Round 3 game against Dublin.

The Mayo team to play Dublin on Sunday in the final round of the All-Ireland SFC group series shows one change from that which started the Round 2 clash with Roscommon.

The Green and Red will return to Dr Hyde Park with Tommy Conroy recalled to the attack, replacing Padraig O’Hora who played a defensive role in that game.

There’s almost as much interest as who appears on the bench however, with James Carr and Diarmuid O’Connor both named among the substitutes. The only minutes Carr has seen this season were when he appeared as a late substitute against Monaghan in the final round of the National Football League, while O’Connor did not feature against Roscommon last time out after a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

The winners of Sunday’s game will qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals with the losers having to play a preliminary quarter-final at home.

Stephen Coen wears the armband in the absence of injured captain Paddy Durcan.

Monaghan’s Martin McNally will referee the match.

Subs: Rob Hennelly, Rory Brickenden, James Carr, Enda Hession, Conor Loftus, Diarmuid O’Connor, Eoin O’Donoghue, Padraig O’Hora, Michael Plunkett, Paul Towey, Bob Tuohy.
