Mayo LGFA have announced that their Cup Finals will go ahead this weekend.

Storm Amy is continuing to cause havoc across the county, not least to the Gaelic Games calendar, forcing almost universal cancellations and postponements.

In a statement, Mayo LGFA said that they are delighted to confirm that the Cup Finals will go ahead on Sunday, thanks to the resilience of the Hastings Insurance MacHale Park pitch and the support of the grounds staff.

Both finals were originally scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. The Junior A final between Parke-Keelogues-Crimlin and Swinford will throw-in at 12pm on Sunday, with Claremorris and MacHale Rovers in the Intermediate final at 2pm.

"The move to Sunday provides greater scope to assess the impact of Storm Amy and ensure conditions are safe for players, officials, and supporters.

"Mayo LGFA stresses that all fixtures remain subject to review in the coming hours, particularly in light of flooding and road closures across the county. Player and supporter welfare will remain the top priority.

"All tickets issued for Saturday’s original fixtures remain valid for Sunday’s rescheduled games.

"Mayo LGFA wishes to sincerely thank Mayo GAA for their support and cooperation throughout this process and looks forward to welcoming the four outstanding teams to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park for what promises to be a fantastic showcase of ladies football."
